The term, "the real deal" does not just apply to religion. Anyone that has any ideological beliefs or goals, and gives themselves 100 per cent to that activity, are as it relates to that activity, The Real Deal. In religion, however, a person who is the Real Deal, is the opposite of a hypocrite, Any person who calls himself or herself :the real deal" probably is not.

I think it's kind of a religious snobbery. Some brands of fundamentalist Christian believe they are correct in their understanding of spiritual matters and most other people are not, so they refer to themselves as "the real deal". Check out a YouTube user named Preacher189 who calls himself the Real Deal, that's a good example.

It means that you are not just acting or being the way you are to impress anyone, you are actually like that. Since you are in this section, it may mean that you actually believe what you are preaching and are not just saying it to please anyone.
