Today is Dec 27 07 and it is the first time I have opened them. Are they still OK to eat?

Yes. The expiration date is the date stores can no longer sell them. Most printing on packages say something like 'use or freeze before XXXXX. The exp. date does not mean they automatically go bad. I would defrost and use only what is needed each time.

Were they in the freezer part or the fridge part? If they were frozen, they should be okay. If not, I wouldn't recommend eating them. Hot dogs contain a lot of preservatives and seasoning, so you might not notice the smell if the meat has spoilt. And let's face it, getting food poisoning and throwing up will not make you less hungry. But if you're going to insist on it, cook them very very thoroughly. Microwave them, and boil them. The radiation from the microwave may kill some stuff, and boiling them until they're very well cooked should get the rest. Then eat slowly, make sure they taste okay. Good luck.

As far as I'm concerned. Too much time has elapsed since the expiration date. I would throw them out, just 'cause.

I'd say yes. They do give you some leeway to prevent spoilage.

yes. freezing doesn't stop foods going bad, but slows the process way, way down.

if your froze them right away..they will be fine to eat.

If it was a few months ago...eh..I'd just toss 'em to be on the safe side.
