Ive pulled a nightshift in a crappy office here in Afghanistan (Royal Marine) So ive been sat surfing, and theres ALOT of anti American tosh from all the Dillusional Lefty types back home in Britain! Its depressing, ive deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan with the US troops and i consider them my brothers in arms. Even if the war is disagreeable to some.. im proud we went, as i think our cultures and people are so similar compared to Islamic states, we should stick together.
I just wanted to post this to say, im sorry for some of my countrymens comments. Im ashamed of them.
The Americans are our biggest allies, and i prey that remains the same
Oh and if you invade anyone else i hope the Royal Marines get to come along again!
God bless America! :D

Smudge, you know nothing, crawl back under your rock "civilian".
We have had friendly fire incidents sure, but when the USAF is flying 1000s of sorties a year to help us out its going to happen.
I know this, if it wasnt for the US support here in Helmand. Id be a dead man, and thats a fact.
So shut your mouth, come do a tour if your man enough.. you might learn something.
And youl definately learn to appreciate your American friends.

First of all, you have nothing to apologize for. You are not responsible for the statements of your countrymen. That's the good thing about the heritage of our two nations...we judge people as individuals, not as groups.
That being said, I want to thank you for your service and for keeping an open mind about your allies across the Atlantic. I served in Iraq alongside British Army troops, and I found your comrades in arms to be every bit the equal in soldiering and professionalism...even if we didn't see eye to eye all the time!
Whatever our superficial differences may be, both Americans and Britons share the same core values of liberty, independence, and individuality. I too hope that we remain allies.
God Bless the U.K.!

I agree that a lot of civilians do not know what it is like to serve in an army at all. Being an ex army person I realise that what you are doing is not always to everyones liking but support from people that are aware of the sacrifice that you make day to day will never change.
We may not always agree with the policies that America or our own Government have but as you said they are fighting along side you and that is fact they are your brothers in arms.
I hope that the rest of your tour goes well and you return home soon.

Matty,
I am a retired USAF B52 Pilot. I have had the pleasure of working with many of our British allies. You stand tall and hold your beer well. You have guided my planes with pinpoint accuracy. You are someone that I can always depend on. If I were to have been separated from my aircraft for any reason in hostile territory, I would really appreciate a Royal Marine, finding me and watching my back as we made it to safety. And I know that we would make it to safety.
The US Marines never leave one of there own on the battle field and I believe the Royal Marines have the same attitude.
Let me say thanks for your service to the Queen, to the Royal Marines, soldiers, sailors and airmen that you support. I am proud to call you friend.
William B
(I just wish your government would have never invented the Harrier Jump Jet)

Some fellows from 2nd Fusillers taught me that USAF stands for Usualy Shooting At Friends. It's a bad joke. I promised not to hold it against them that it was their Regiment that burnt down the White House. I just left Kandhar for Kabul this time last year.
Thank you for the sentiments. Lot of us feel the same way about you guys. I can't even imagine an anti-British sentiment in the US, but should it ever happen I'll stand shoulder to shoulder with you.
There'll always be a Britain.

Matty, I don't support the invasion of Iraq (never thought it would make things much better, and can't see any evidence it has) - but the Afghan campaign is certainly necessary and just.
Whatever the politics, though, I and many others will always want our troops - yes, and the US troops too - to be successful and as safe as possible. It's easy to read about the odd bad apple or trigger-happy cowboy and forget the 99/100 who are simply regular good guys putting their necks on the line so we can be safer on our trip to our nice cushy office jobs, but anyone who stops and thinks for a moment can see who are the good guys here.
Stay safe - you and your American comrades.

Isn't freedom beautiful? We can disagree AND get along!
I was in Scotland on the USS TOLEDO (SSN) in 2000. I hung out with some Submariners from the HMS VANGAURD (SSBN). We talked about how we would always be their for one another if needed. None o fus new less than a year later it would happen.
I love you Brits, and consider you brothers. We are two peas in a pod. You are so right our societies are incredibly similar. I feel we have friendship that is the envy of the World, and nothing can break it. Even though our people do not always agreewith what we do in this War, our value of freedom will keep us strong allies.

No need to say you are sorry. Many people here in the United States speak out against the war and military too. But others, like me, are very appreciative of everything someone in uniform does for our country and other coutries. Hold your head high. You are the best of the best and I'm proud to have you serving alongside our brave American soldiers.

Thank you. It is hard to an American these days but we do have solid values despite the lefty's as you state...But we have the courage to live a free life unlike some other countries who only dream of our realities and strike us behind our backs... Freedom is a word that is earned and carries alot of responsibility. Some would rather not be free and sit and complain of their destiny.

I don't care what the pigment of your skin,or if you think your god is better. in the end you are all my brother, sister, mother, father, aunt, uncle, grandmother,or grandfather. we need to remember we only have one EARTH,ONE PLANET TO DESTROY OR HELP.
