No one is prevented from being Muslim. Tattoos gotten before having the knowledge play no part.
You should look into becoming Muslim too.

Even if your friend has it removed he has still altered the skin. There will be some scarring and possibly some color left. He should not worry about the tattoo and just worry about his faith. He is on the right path and Allah(swt) guides those he wants.
No one can stop another from being a Muslim. I know some Muslims who were born Muslims and did not really believe till they were older but had gotten tattoos. Faith is the only thing which matters.

Its a good news that your friend wants to be a muslim, but he has Tattoos, Allah is the most merciful.
should remove the tattooing if that is possible and does not have harmful side effects.
Ibn Hajjar al-Haithami said: 'When the disbeliever had tattoos before becoming Muslim, he should remove them when he becomes Muslim' . In fact, anyone who does tattoos on his arm or elsewhere, this part of his body becomes impure at engraving and his prayer is invalid as long as he can remove the tattoo.
And Ask Allah for the forgiveness. And when one embraces Islam with true heart, by fearing Allah only, all his past sins will be forgiven InshAllah.
Imam Al-Nawawi said: "Our companions said: 'If it can be removed by treatment, it must be removed. But if it requires an operation which might cause the deterioration of an organ by losing it completely or partially or create a major problem (injury, pain, wound), then it could be left as Allah does not put this Ummah in troubles".
But if one (a man and woman) delays removing the tattoo deliberately, he commits a sin.
Rest Allah knows the best~!

Well marbles man in Islam when you become Muslim all of your past sins are erased, so to say. So when your friend becomes Muslim he will start fresh kind of like a baby. Sure, getting tatted up is haraam because this is not our property when cant permemantly damage it and it changes Allah's orginal creation. Also soo many diseases can come with getting a tatoo "your friend's" tatoo will be like he never got it, so to say. Yes he will be allowed to become Muslim and isa he does.
This guy i new was in a situation like your friends he had some tattos on his wrist, but he still became muslim, and as far as i know hes a pretty happy guy. If he really doesnt want his tatto he can have it removed lazerily.
Hope this helped
salaam

No one can ever be prevented from being Muslim no matter what they did in their past before converting to Islam. Religion is between u and Allah. When u intend to be a Muslim and submit to Allah then ur a Muslim. There is no such thing as not being allowed to be Muslim. congratulations to ur friend.

Just what the previous Brothers and Sisters said about Allah being forgiving is true and I agree. Allah is the most Forgiving and most Gracious. Allah forgives people for more larger, damaging things done in the past as long as they ask for forgiveness and do Toba. Toba is asking for forgiveness and promising not to repeat it again.
Tell your friend that they have nothing to worry about. Their good deeds are already increasing for just wanting to be a Muslim.

Assalamualaikom!(May Peace be on You!)
Body piercing, tattooing, branding, etc. all fall in the category of unnecessary interference, alteration and mutilation of Allah’s creation. Therefore, no Muslim, who is conscious of his religion, should ever contemplate such activities.
In his well-known book, The Lawful and the Prohibited in Islam, the prominent Muslim scholar, Sheik Yusuf Al-Qaradawi, states:
“Islam denounces excesses in beautifying oneself when it alters the physical features that Allah created him with. The Glorious Qur'an considers such alterations as inspired by Satan, who "...will command them (his devotees) to change what Allah has created...” (An-Nisa': 119)
Tattooing is one of those excesses. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) is reported to have cursed the tattooer and the tattooed. (Reported by Muslim)
Tattooing permanently disfigures the face and other parts of the body with colored pigment and repulsive designs. Some Arabs, especially women, are in the habit of tattooing large areas of their bodies. People of certain religious sects tattoo pictures of their deities or religious rituals on their hands and chests. The pain and agony that the person experiences from the needles piercing skin add to these images. Because of all of this, both the tattooer and the one who is tattooed have been cursed.”
May Allah forgive your friend!
Aameen!

about tattoos:
She has a tattoo from before she was Muslim
Question:
When I was kafir I got a tattoo on my shoulder.Alhumdillah I am now Muslim, My husband is fine about it Alhumdillah, however we would like it removed. To have it removed by laser is expensive and I believe it requires burning of the skin and I do not want to rule out for myself being of thoes who will enter Jena without account. Inshallah
I have repented, is there anymore I really need to do?
Jazak Allah Khair.
Answer:
Praise be to Allaah.
Praise be to Allaah Who has guided you to His Straight Path. I ask Allaah to make you steadfast in following it. As for this tattoo which cannot be removed except through this kind of surgery, you do not have to do this, because it is too difficult and will cause pain and hurt. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning);
“… and [Allaah] has not laid upon you in religion any hardship…” [al-Hajj 22:78]. Your regret and dislike of that, and your determination never to do it again is sufficient. Also, Islam wipes out what came before, so in this case leaving it as it is should not cause you any harm, in sha Allaah. May Allaah help you to do that which He loves and which pleases Him.
