Yes, because it's not about age, it's about respect. I guess people aren't taught to respect their elders anymore.

The ONLY time it would be appropriate to call an aunt or uncle by their first name only is when the age difference is very slight (or the person is actually older than the relative), as happens when a child has children, and then that child's mother has a child later in life. It's more a a peer relationship in this case.

.
yes and please continue to do so. It really makes all of us aunts and uncles and grandparents and great aunts feel special and close to the family members that do call us auntie ... these titles are important. Now that you are 25 are you going to call your mom and dad by their first names??? I don`t think so.
so should your uncle remain uncle Harvey. yes yes .. Bless you..-

Were you born yesterday? Of course you have to call them Aunt and Uncle even when you are a grandfather yourself. They are your Aunt and Uncle til the day you die and you have to call them that even when you are 86. Put it this way, do you stop calling your parents Mom and Dad when you become a dad? Of course you still call them mom and dad. they are your mom and dad til the day you die.

Yes, always call your Uncle's "Uncle ------", and your Aunts, "Aunt........," it signifies that you are closer to that person than just a friend. It also brings them closer to you because you respect their relationship as a relative, not just as a friend. You can be great friends with Uncles and Aunts, but you are closer because you are related. No friend can ever replace that position. It signifies that you trust them to take care of you no matter how old you are, and that you will take care of them no matter how they get because they are your relations.

I believe unless your aunt or uncle specifies otherwise it is customary and respectful to call them aunt or uncle. Keep in mind would you call your grandparents or your parents by their first names now??? Out of respect for your elders I would continue to call them aunt and uncle.

You can call him whatever is comfortable between the two of you. With most of my aunts and uncles, I interchange calling them, for example, "Dale" and "Uncle Dale," and it doesn't really make much of a difference. But I would never never called my Aunt Betty, "Betty," simply because we don't have that close of an aunt-neice relationship where I would feel comfortable calling her that.

To each their own! :)

It probably depends on your uncle. Does he refer to himself as Uncle Harvey. If so, then that's probably what he would prefer to be called.

It's as appropriate as calling your mother Mom. Sure it's OK.
