Check the puppies teeth, gums and mouth to see if you see any problems . Sometimes something as simple as food being lodged in the teeth can create an odor. I know this may sound gross to you but could your puppy be eating its feces? It's very possible. And it ,understandably, causes a bad odor.
Since your veternarian has done a checkup and found nothing to be wrong it could be any of the above or just the way your puppies breath naturally smells and could fade away as it grows older.
To address the whining and biting ( you should never encourage biting behavior, Labradors aren't an agressive breed), your puppy needs to start obedience training right away. Go to the library and find some books or enlist the help of a proffessional trainer.

Bad breath means that food is rotting in the teeth or could be early onset of gum disease. Brush your dog's teeth using a canine brush and meat flavoured toothpast, both from the vet. Don't use human toothpaste, dogs hate the taste of mint and it will likely cause your dog to lash out. Puppies often bite and whine when they're bored. Buy him a toy and when he does bite shout No and then leave him alone for a few minutes, he'll soon learn that biting isn't the way to get attention.
DON'T encourage him to bite others, even if he is a guard dog. Dogs either bite anyone or bite no one, you can't have it both ways and if you encourage him to bite others one day he will turn round and bite you ten times worse. It will also mean that if he ever does bite anyone he will be destroyed as a dangerous dog. Training him to do this is bascially condemning him to death and I'm a vet student so I can't tell you how heart breaking it is for us and the owner to have to put down a perfectly healthy dog because some idiot taught it to bite people. It ends up the only outcome and often cuts the dogs lifespan short by several years.

Hi, Collar - puppy collars are good one that you can adjust a lot is better. Leash - usually come with the puppy collar, depending on your breed retracts can be better Food dishes - 1 water dish or (water fountain for dogs) 1 food dish Food/water - tap water, food - well it depends on if your dog has allergies etc Puppy pads - NO GO they only encourage your puppy to potty in the house, regular potty breaks are easier and get the ball rolling Crate - he needs enough room to sit up, stand up and turn around (even when he is bigger) Blankets/toys - I use a quilt and have 2 covers so i can alternate when washing, toys - Kong's, balls, squeakers, Teddy's etc Treats - Organic are better (pigs ears, raw bones, dried meat etc) Cannot say what size he will be as he is a mutt so you will never know, I would buy medium sized as its easier all round. Make sure he is 8 weeks when you pick him up (any younger then leave him with the byb). Regular exercise and training will make for a happy dog.

Puppy breath perhaps? Or possibly worms or some other sickness? I'd check with your veterinarian just to be sure.
Biting, or "teething" is a normal part of puppyhood. Don't by any means tolerate your puppy biting you, usually a little pop on the nose and a firm "no" is pretty effective. And make sure to supply him with plenty of toys. And while I understand wanting your dog to protect you, I would NOT encourage him to bite other people.

almost all dogs breath stinks. mine is 41/2 and her breath still stinks. here are some methods to reduce the stink:brush their teeth once in a while, get some breath spray or breath treating treats. almost all dogs breath stink cause they eat their own waste and some even clean themselves. try to keep human food away from an open trash cause dogs are smart and they will turn over the trash and eat whatever is left of the food. this also contributes to bad breath. Hope this helps!

some puppies breath just stinks. could be gas from the food.
take a SMALL amount of baking soda and water mix it up to paste but small bit, put it on a toothbrush and brush his teeth. then give him water to drink. if you are not comfortable with baking soda use special toothpaste. not human kind. and baking SODA not powder, yes there is a difference. :D he will be just fine. he isnt sick.

You should switch the dogs food. You need a food that is formulated to scrub the teeth as the dog chews. I use Nutro and my dogs teeth & breath is great. Make sure you switch him over slow so he doesnt get an upset stomach. Good Luck

Your puppy could be ill, or he could have worms. I'd have him checked out with your Vet. It's past time for his shots.
