my dad owes a lot in child support. almost over $30,000. I'm still close to my dad and care about him a lot. Everytime me and him talk, she asks what we talk about and stuff. and now she MADE me give her his email. She is gonna give it to the child support worker and that can track him down. is that true? i dont want my daddy to go to jail!!

According to most divorce decrees both parents must inform each other as well as the county they were divorced in any changes in their contact information: Phone numbers, addresses and some times emails. If they did as instructed then there is no need to hunt one another down. If your dad has become behind on Child support it is only fair that the child support help collect the money on your mom's behalf. It is expensive to raise a child, and any good parent should help out as much as possible or ordered to finacially support their kid/s

Well, your mother didn't MAKE you give her the email. If I was in your situation, I'd of simply told her that this is not my battle and I am not going to get involved. However, your father owes lots of money and its within your mothers rights to seek him out for that money. Yes, the email may be a way for them to track him down and yes, he could go to jail. Its just apart of the adult life that you kids need not worry about. I'm sorry you've been stuck in the middle of it.

What a mess. THere are laws that say things like
1. revoked drivers license for back support.
2. Not able to get professional certifications for back support.
3. With holding income tax refunds for back support.

Well if he owe that kind of money, more than likely he's going to jail. I can see that u care about your dad a lot, but your mom needed money to raise you. Think about her struggle...

He can be force into paying under the "Dead beat Dad" statutes in most states. Jail can be one methode used to foce the payment.

Yes, your Dad's e-mail account can probably be used to locate him.
He won't go to jail if he makes good on his court ordered financial responsibilities to you and your Mom.

yea, there all kinds of laws protecting women in child support claims. he can go to jail.
