Do you think that my puppy is okay to sleep in my bed? Because I have read that it's not good because you are higher then your dog and she should sleep on the floor, but I love her alot and I really enjoy her company and she is like my life! So would it be bad training?

Also I've been trying to train my 3 month doggy SHE IS SO SMART! She know (kinda, 99% of the time she does it) she knows how to sit, come, fetch, down is she smart in your opinion?

It certainly sounds like you're on the right track with your 3 month old... is she house trained too? Sounds like the perfect girl ;)

As for sleeping in the bed. I do not let my puppies sleep in the bed initially. They are all crate trained, but once they are completely housebroken, accepting of the crate and have their manners down, they are allowed in the bed --but, only when invited. My animals are not allowed on the furniture, bed or otherwise, without permission. This means either they are called up, or they may sit and wait (i.e. 'ask') to be called up. I also make sure that 'Off!' if firmly established.

No problems as of yet, a few decades and dogs later ;)

A puppy should only be on something that it can jump on. In other words, if she can't jump up on the bed, then she shouldn't be there. They can be severely injured if they fall at that young age. I have heard that you shouldn't let your dog sleep with you, it allows the dog to be on the same level that you are and you should always be the leader of the pack. I think personally that this is true with puppies and it all depends on how dominant your dog wants to be. I wouldn't let a real dominant dog sleep with me, but a nice well-balanced temperament...Okey dokey once they are mature.

My 8 m/o will sleep for a little while on my bed then in the middle of the night he will move to my daughter's bed. I was thinking that soon I should train him to sleep in his bed but....I think I'm gonna be the one finding it hard to get use to not having him warming up my legs.

I think dogs should be 100% housetrained before getting bed priviledges and I think the dog should be taught to only come up when invited. This way they know the bed is yours to control and don't become possessive of it.

Well, I let all my 12 dogs sleep on my bed so I can't help you there...

It's up to each individual. All of my dogs have always slept with me, including my Doberman and my Chow and I have never had any problems.
