I don't think that convicts were considered as a group in this survey.
75% of US is Christian; 75% prisoners are Christian
10% of US is Atheist; 0.2% of prisoners are Atheist.

Unfortunately, it's true. There are people who would rather vote for a Muslim than an atheist. At least Muslims pay obeisance to some invisible skydaddy. Sadly, people will trust believers over nonbelievers, and I don't know why. People still trust the Catholic Chuch, with all its chicanery! At least atheists don't get together in large groups for the sole purpose of ripping other people off with vague promises of salvation.

Personally I think the least trusted group in America are either the politicians or lawyers. I have law-abiding atheists pretty high on my trust list.

I think it's true and unfounded. Did you see that episode of Tyra where she did the thing with the high school kids and they made their own town? When they had to kick someone out of the town they picked the atheist, even though she was one of the nicest and most helpful people there while many of the others kept making racist and homophobic comments and arguing with each other. Interestingly enough too their reasoning for the kid they chose to be mayor was because he was "white, christian and from texas."

no i agree with you.
and i am a Christian.
because...
to have the name Christian on something is to have honesty.
that is not true.
more hypocrites will be in church than anywhere.
it is my point of view.
and just because someone says that Atheists are bad peopl, they are really no different from Christians...
besides the fact that some Christians go aroung saying "You are going to Hell!'
no difference exists.
both groups have beliefs.
it doesnt make either group "bad."
but it does tick me off that people say that.

Definitely not true. I go with my instinct on people and a comment like that is discriminatory to say the least. The bible shows examples of men and women who followed God, and yet fell from time to time for various reasons. Is this a so called statistic or just some comment from a rambling fool on here?

I have seen studies that indicate that. I think the problem is most people are not aware that they even know any atheists. My husband is a charming Englishman who people are naturally drawn to. He makes it a point to tell people that he is an atheist, just so they realize that atheists are not evil people.

Yes, it is true. Here is my favourite reaction to the results of the University of Minnesota study, which concluded that atheists "lack the proper vision of American society". More than "gays, blacks, Jews, or Muslims", Atheists were rated as the least "American".
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fdVucvo-kDU
Although the wording of the question in the study was about who "lacked the proper vision of American society" or some such nonsense and lots of people said "atheists", that study aside, we are not trusted.
Why would we be trusted? Anyone who spends more than a few hours with us loses their faith. Atheism is contagious and pretty near incurable, I'd be scared too, the poor little faith-heads.
Look at the ruckus over The Golden Compass (when we have to put up with every conceivable variety of theistic garbage in all of our media). Trusted, we are not, but that's ok.
We're not asking for anyone's trust. We don't need it.
