I can not find the reloading data for Winchester/ Western 571 ball powder. It was discontinued some time ago. All my old reloading books were stolen some time ago and it doesn’t show in the newer powder data manuals. Googled it and couldn’t find much. Need shotgun data and I think some pistol rounds used it, so that data if possible.
And of course I need factory data not guesses or hearsay data.

Aslo Alcan shotgun powder AL-120. This one will be a bugger as they sold out to another company years ago.

Just hate to waste 2 lbs of good powder.

Know where I can find this data?

Went through that before and no go.
But thanks.
You would think they would have it broke down into data for each powder instead if that stupid search they have.
But then I may just not bea able to find it there. But I spent a few hours there before with no luck.

Thanks boker but it has the powder masked unless I pay to join.
And sfcojoe I thought of that but the small town near me doesn’t have much for that info in their library. I live in the middle of no where pretty much, I would have to take a plane to a large city to find a big library. Part of the few bad sides of living in Alaska’s bush lol!
And your right I need the old load data manuals.
Thought maybe some one had that data some where on line.
Thanks all! Maybe I will get lucky.

Alright, this is a GOOD question involving lots of research in my archives. I cannot find any data for the AL-120. I have some data for other Alcan powders such as AL-101, AL-5, AL-7 and AL-8 but cannot find the existance of AL-120 or equivalents.

As for your Win/Western 571, you are in luck today. This data is from the November 1976 2nd Edition of the Winchester/Western "handout" manual. 12 gauge 2 3/4 inch W/W compression formed cases. Double A, Double A Handicap, Upland and Super-X.

1 3/8 oz. shot: Heavy Field and Duck loads. Nominal velocity 1330.

WW209 primer, 39.5 grains ww571,WAA12R Wad, 9800 LUPS's pressure.

WW209 primer, 39.5 grains ww571, Remingtion 29926 (RP 12) Wad, 9800 LUPS's pressure.

1 1/2 oz. shot: Magnum loads. Nominal velocity 1260.

WW209 primer, 36.5 grains ww571,WAA12R Wad, 10,300 LUPS's pressure. Mec bushing #30 comes close.

WW209 primer, 39.5 grains ww571, Remingtion 29926 (RP 12) Wad, 9800 LUPS's pressure. Mec bushing #32 comes close.

13th edition has WW 571 in it as well about a 1994 vintage handout.

If you need 20 gauge loads please post again.

Every powder manufacturer has on line tables with suggested starting and maximum loads for all the powders they produce. You still need to invest in at least two old fashioned dead tree reloading manuals as in addition to the tables they contain much critical information on the multitude of detains you need to know to be a successful reloader. Note: if the .30-30 or any other caliber you reload is for a rifle with a tubular magazine you must not reload with pointed bullets as under recoil a pointed slug could possibly fire the primer of the next round in front of it. There are new designs with soft ballistic points intended to overcome this, but it's still an issue to be aware of and plan for. It's also why certain .308 bullets will be flagged specifically for the .30-30 due to their flat or rounded points.

Winchester 571 Powder

Sorry Jim,

My old Speer #10 manual lists 571 as a ball powder suitable for 3" 12 and 20 gauge shotgun loads, but it doesn't give any shotshell reloading data. And it makes no mention of Alcan 120 at all.

I hate to say it, but perhaps you'd better pour it on your wife's flowerbeds come spring.

When I was new to reloading I got my info from the local library. They had reloading manuals, most of them old. Which is just what you need.

Aside from the resource given in the above answer, you might try here, but I doubt they will have old powder info there.
