•There is a study that said that sexual orientation is related to nurture. If the environment is dominated with females (say an absentee father, then the son will most grow up into preferring to be intimate with males).

•Another study said that sexual orientation is a learned behavior. If the environment is dominated with people of the same sexual orientation, then the son will grow up the same way.

•Another study said that sexual orientation was developed due to circumstance. A male prison inmate for example, who has very limited interaction with the females would engage in a same-gender relationship.

The jury is still out on that one. I have seen brain scans of gays that show a different pattern compared with hetero males, and have known kids that were "different" who turned out to be gay in adulthood.

I have noticed that there is something going on with the families; very overpowering mothers, male relatives or friends that molested males, etc.

I think there needs to be more research before anyone says they were born that way, although I am sure it is possible. All babies start out "female" and it is only when the males get a testosterone bath in the womb that the sex changes to male. Perhaps during that "bath"something changes. I don't know, just a theory.

People do not "turn gay". Current literature and studies are finding that people are born this way. It is some sort of genetic or chromosome problem that may cause this but they aren't sure yet. Scientists do believe this occurs when the baby is still developing in the womb. And, remember, people do not choose to be gay. This is just part of their genetic make up.

In regards to Princess' answer... ask her when she chose her heterosexuality and then tell her to stop making her opinions and assumptions an absolute truth. What a dumb ***. Sounds like typical religious propaganda, because they feel the need to make people believe something as a truth to perpetuate the messages of hate they love to spread. No... you don't choose it. I'm gay, had the feelings for years and made myself miserable trying to fight them off. Research is being done to see where it comes from, but I'm telling you that I tried hard to make myself straight to make other people happy, but eventually just learned to accept this is who I am and I'd rather live a happy life than hide who I am from the world. I'm not a secret agent after all.

Well
Gay men are 700% more likely than straight men to have been sexually abused as children.
That was certainly not their choice....
But sexual abuse is certainly causative in many instances.
The other cause is maturational arrest at the homosexual phase of psychological development.
I think a very few gays really are "born" effeminate. But most are not.
The other issue that no one is bringing up is the flood of artificial estrogens in the environment due to food additives, pesticides, etcetera...almost certainly causes some problem in male babies.

Yes, I believe that people are born with their sexual orientation and in some cases can change their's. I have friends who say they were attracted to other girls since they were young. There are also recent studies that suggest being gay is biological factor, so I don't see how they would have any control over that. And if people choose to be gay, then why would some be ashamed to be gay. Why would'nt they just choose to be straight.

Straight people say they were born straight. Why wouldn't the same thing apply to gays?

sure. till/till technological information concludes that there isn't any link between genetics/heredity and sexual orientation, the possibility exists. and because many analyze have been revealed in cutting-edge times exhibiting such linkage, that is not in basic terms obtainable, yet probable.
