I have now deboned the turkey and it is ready for freezer. Can I put in individual freezer bags only or do I need to wrap in foil first? Thanks! ;D

Just baggies is fine, but if you want extra protection, then you may consider using foil first for extra protection against freezer burn. It's not necessary, though.

Someone else said that you can only freeze it for two weeks with just baggies, that's not necessarily true.

good freezer bags will last several months.

The best thing to do is wrap your turkey in saran wrap tightly. Then, put in freezer bags, making sure you squeeze out all the air. Just roll the bag from bottom to top, until all the air is gone. It should freeze well for about 3 months, maybe longer. I always try to use it before that time.

You can store turkey in a zip lock bag in the freezer without using foil to wrap it. I do it all the time, and it's fine.

I have put deboned turkey in freezer bags in the past and it has worked fine. I then made turkey pot pie and turkey fried rice, both delicious.

If you just use a freezer bag, make sure it has has all the air pushed out of it to prevent freezer burn. I typically freeze meat in 1 pound increments in just the freezer bags so I can add then to soups, stews and rice dishes as a time saver.

No, its usually plastic as the first layer of insulation. Should you need further protection for long term freezer, wrap it with a second layer foil.

a feezer bag is fine, but get out as much air as you can. one way is to put a strw in the opening and close the bag right up to the straw. suck out all the air and quickly remove the straw and close the bag.

I've done it and if you eat it within 2 weeks no problem. Longer than that and you'll see freezer burn.
