A large portion of the male population are color blind to certain degrees. Mainly, they cannot tell the difference between black and navy.

It does occur mainly among males and the most common form of it is red/green color blindness. According to a guy I once knew who had it, his biggest complaint about being color blind was that he had trouble distinguishing between red and green traffic lights.
