I took a photo of some detail in the sand, taken in daylight with my EOS 300D .
Then I tried to create an effect of simultated moonlight (with a twist), I'm happy with most of it, but I don't like the shell in the upper central left, it looks blown out. I'm after opinions on mending it. Otherwise I will just paste that particular shell over again and redo it.

Here is the changed version:

I know the original is better, but it's about trying to achieve a desired effect. I'd appreciate any ideas you have. Thank you.

Re moonlight effect, that was just a verbal indication of the sort of thing I was trying to achieve, not an actual objective. I am a surrealist so moonlight is not just moonlight to me.

Now about the highlight...

Dear "needhelp" I don't appreciate being called "hun" by a child.
Run along now... just had a look at your answer history.. I can see you're going to get a lot of people offside on here.

I downloaded it and dinked around a little.

Selected the offending area, made a new layer, then pulled down midtones with Levels and doused a little brightness and a little contrast.

But I'm not sure it improved anything.

Frankly, I like the way it is. Kinda makes me think of what a squid's brain might look like ... if one was inclined to overindulge in drugs ... which I'm not!

I'm perfectly happy with my Mich Ultra Amber. In fact, I think I'll have another.

The first looks like a standard design for a shower curtain or place mat. Nice composition and texture. The second is much more interesting with the colors.

I like the 1st. one although I might have tried it with a polarizer filter to remove any glare.

I'm not too sure about the 2nd. one. In moonlight the colors are muted and softer.

I do enjoy your experimentation. You might enjoy a visit to AIRC-Adorama Imaging Resource Center. Click on SFX Photography and, if you're so inclined, let me know what you think of it. (I enjoy in-camera multiple exposures. Its always fun to see what results.)

I very much like the first one, and I'm sorry I didn't answer earlier, I missed your question because I didn't recognize your avatar...lol. By the way, I like the new one best so far, you keep me guessing....
