It's normal for adult cats to sleep up to 20 hours a day. If he's healthy, a good weight and still active and happy enough to go picking fights theres no need to worry and just appreciate him more. Male cats often fight and there's nothing much you can do, though castration does help smooth their aggression, but it sounds like he's a perfectly normal adult cat. Try buying some toys if you want to play more with him, mine loves to chase fishing rod style ones and balls.
The other reason for lack of activity is weight problems. I'm a vet student so I'll tell you the basics for checking a pets weight. First check to see if you can feel the ribs easily through a moderate layer of fat. You shouldn't need to press too hard to feel them since this means yo9ur cat over weigh but if you can see them or feel them whenever you stroke him he is under weight. Also when looking from above you should see a definite waist, this doesn't work with long haired cats though.
Hope this helps.

Are you serious?? My answer is. feed him the proper foods
Nutrition since there are so many bad things out there is very important to your cat’s health
Contrary to what you may have heard; dry foods are not a great thing to feed a cat.
Please read the label on what you are feeding? What are the ingredients? Do you know what they mean? Is the first ingrdiant a muscle meat like chicken or meal or other things?
http://www.catinfo.org/#Learn_How_To_Read_a_Pet_Food_Ingredient_Label
Dry foods are the number 1 cause of diabetes in cats as well as being a huge contributing factor to kidney disease, obesity, crystals, u.t.i’s and a host of other problems. Food allergies are very common when feeding dry foods. Rashes, scabs behind the tail and on the chin are all symptoms
The problems associated with Dry food is that they are loaded with carbohydrates which many cats (carnivores) cannot process them. Also, Most of the moisture a cat needs is suppose to be in the food but in
Dry, 95% of it is zapped out of dry foods in the processing. Another thing, most use horrible ingredients and don't use a muscle meat as the primary ingredient and use vegetable based protein versus animal. Not good for an animal that has to eat meat to survive.
You want to pick a canned food w/o gravy (gravy=carbs) that uses a muscle meat as the first ingredient and doesn't have corn at least in the first 3 ingredients if at all. Fancy feast is a middle grade food with 9lives, friskies whiskas lower grade canned and wellness and merrick upper grade human quality foods. Also, dry food is not proven to be better for teeth. Does a hard pretzel clean your teeth or do pieces of it get stuck? http://www.felinefuture.com/nutrition/bpo_ch4a.php

First of all, you need to keep that cat inside and get him neutered. He is tired from roaming and fighting. He is more apt to become injured and infected with numerous diseases by letting this continue. As a house cat, you can entertain and play with him. He will live much longer in a secure environment.

Don't let him back out, make him a housecat. Give him a bath poor thing. Have his litter indoors. Feed him at your mealtimes and have playtimes with him. Teach him to play. It's you who sounds boring, sorry but what you expect, the cat to entertain you without you putting in any input, really, that's being lazy.

Have you tried catnip? Most cats go nuts over it. Also, you could try a wand or fishing pole type of toy that you could play with together. (Just make sure you put it away in a drawer or closet where he can't get hold of it. He could ingest the string and it could wrap through his intestines.)

First thing is if you care about your cat keep him inside and he will live longer. Second thing is he won't be boring is you get some interactive toys to play with him . Third if he is the only cat you have get him another kitty to play with .

your cats just getting old.
play with it more, like buy it toys and stuff.
and try keeping it awake during the day.
that way at night your cat sleeps when your sleeping
& it wont be as tired during the day! almost like a schedule.
it will have more time to play with you and be more active.
