People did not establish law and order or try to become civilized, so the flood wiped out the earth wide violence. Sodom and Gomorrah are 450 years after the flood, and there is not 10 persons found to be interested in Law and order. Gen.14:1-18; Abraham is surrounded by lawless land pirates from 427 years after the flood. After 430 years Exo.12:40,41; plus 40 years with Moses, 603,550 Promised Land heirs will be law keepers, givers and law enforcers.

Read the the Flood story very carefully. You will note that God did not choose Noah, a perfectly virtuous person, to build the ark. No, he chose Noah, "a good man and blameless in that age." (Gen 6:9) Not blameless in every age, but just in his own. IOW, he was the best that God had to work with.

After the Flood, Noah did two things. 1) He built an altar to make a sacrifice to God (Gen 8:20) and planted a vineyard and got roaring drunk and disorderly (Gen 9:20-21).

God did not eradicate evil from the hearts of men in the Flood. Though man's heart is on God, his flesh drags him down. Still, God chose to make a covenant with this unruly mob of humans.

Good thing for us.

No more like the whole planet because Natural Ice caps caused flooding as the planet cooled from the Ice age.

Thats more logical to me. Either that or Zeus had Poseidon do it!

Didn't God say just after the food, "Never again will I curse the ground because of man, even though every inclination of his heart is evil from childhood." Gen 8:21

No,He destroyed the Human race bar eight, but not sin.
Hence the reason for Jesus Christ who sacrificed Himself for YOU by taking sin unto Himself.
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whoever believes in Him will never die but have eternal life--John 3:16

No, God doesn't make mistakes.
They were just another example to others of what happens when you don't do what God has commanded.
