I drove up to a girl and said 'hey baby! can I have ur number?' why did she looked shocked and back away...?

Ok, I drove past this girl who was standing on the sidewalk. She was on her phone and she and I made eye contact for several seconds until I passed. I knew something was there. She was all right. Anyway, because of the eye contact I turned my car around and drove back past her. She seemed like 17 or 18 and I am around the same age. Anyway, thinking of what Will Smith would do, I shouted out of my car door window, "Hey baby! Can I have ur number?" She just had this sort of shocked look on her face and turned around and walked away a little bit. What did I do wrong? I know this is what Will Smith would have done? I think I looked fine. I know she seemed to have been giving me eye contact.

What was wrong? First thing, you aren't Will Smith and I don't think he'd do that either considering his wife Jada is very much into respect.

You were rude, point blank. She was on her phone, busy, this eye contact thing I don't buy at all (just your huge ego) people make eye contact everyday and means zero and you yell at her using a sexist handle to describe her ("hey baby").

Get a clue dear. Rude guys go no where with classy women. Next time, have a little class; no yelling using sexist handles and don't approach until you really have some strong "I'm available" signals.

Um you dont just do that.. i mean come on how the hell would she know if your not trying to do something to her? um will smith is an ACTOR first off. are you an actor in a movie? *doesn't sound like it soo what you did really wasn't a good decision*
just cuz u made eye contact doesn't mean anything how do you know she wasn't just spacing out while talking on the phone? Plus u knew nothing about her... how do you know she wasn't talking to her boyfriend?? i mean come on you should get to try and learn somthin bout her first.
if your lookin at movies to show you what to do you should watch a variety.... some movies have guys in cars that do what you did get the girl to talk to them then get the girl into prostitution, murder them, or kidnap them. so yeah

She probably felt like you were objectifying her. Will Smith can do that..because he's Will Smith. You're not famous, nor in a movie. The girl was probably either offended, or just thought you were another creep. Next time, try saying something like, "Hey, you seem really cool. Would you like to go out sometime?" It's less generalizing, not like you do it all the time.

I'm 17 and I would freak if a guy did that to me, don't scare her, just approach her get to know her first, then ask for a phone number. Who cares what Will Smith would have done that's freaky.

hahaha what would will smith do???? hahahaha. Were you still driving? Maybe she couldnt tell you all the digits that quickly. Another thing, a lot of girls think guys are poking fun at them or insulting them by approaching them this way. Maybe she was like, " OH snap, that guy has mad WIll Smith skills, he can't really be interested in me"..........Yep, that was probably it.

!. she was on the phone. never bother someone that is on a cell phone, unless and piano is gonna fall on their head or something.
2. people girls and guys look at people for differnt reasons. she might have though you looked like aguy she knew but then realixed that you weren't him. Or because you was looking at her. Sometime guys stare at me and I'll look at them till they look away.
3. you shouldn't do was a movie or t.v. show charater does. it works because some writer says that is how live should be.

If the girl was smiling at your or something or toching her hair alot then i would say she is intrested in you. instead of asking for her phone number you could have written down your number and given it to her if she calls she calls. You shouldn't call a girl you don't know Baby, it's rude.

life isnt like the movies so what will smith would do isnt going to have the same effects on all girls.
it scared her bc she might have thought that u were going to hurt her. although some ppl do like spontaneous things like that, most like slow subtle things like maybe if u might have said kindly, "hey, i couldnt help but notice you and i wanted to know if u wanted to hang out sometime." maybe the reaction might have been different, who knows maybe she had a bf and didnt want to get involved in something else
