my dog keep eating his bowel. is there anything i can do about it and does it make him sick?

I've heard that putting a few tablespoons of pumpkin (canned) in with their food prevents them from eating poop

Call the vet to ask what that powder is that you can put on his food that makes any bowel movement taste too bad to eat. I can't remember the name of it but a vet would know. It's safe,and it does stop dogs from eating their own poop.

Most vets do sell and/or recommend the powder that can be mixed with the dogs food to make the poop 'taste bad' to the dog.

Be better about picking up his feces so he doesn't have a chance to eat it.

Many stores sell supplements and tablets you can give your dog to try to prevent Coprophagia, however, I do not recommend any of them. There is a reason why vets do not sell these products.

If he is eating his own feces the worst that is going to happen is he will get diarrhea, which obviously is not desirable... so my best advice would be to pick it up as soon as he goes.

You can get him checked for worms, to make sure that he isn't reinfecting himself .. And you can go outside with him and clean up his poop rather than letting him go out alone and eating it every time he goes out.

well first I'd buy a pooper scooper..
if it's more of an obsession and fixation that you can't control, you can buy a pill at the vet's that makes the bowels taste bad to dogs..

My guinea pig eats it's poop too. It's full of nutrients. I'm not sure though. Dogs ARE different from guinea pigs. You should check online or see a vet maybe. They probably can get sick from doing that...I'm not sure...
