16 years old:
I was ticketed for reckless driving. Lost control from the gravel and flipped my car over a nearby bank. I am ok, but the cop gave me a reckless driving ticket ($300) and 4 points off license.

In court, what are my chances of getting that fine reduced and/or getting less points off my license, thanks.

The best thing to do is not to lie when you go to court, just say what happened and hope that your citation gets reduced. also remember to wear a tie and don't go alone. one thing is for sure, most of the time you show up to court the officer will probably not be there and you will almost always be sure you wont pay the whole citation. Also, drive safe.

In order to prove reckless driving they would have to show that you had a substantial disregard for the safety and well being for others. This is a legal standard. If you were going like WAY over the speed limit or something like that then reckless is appropriate. If not then it should be careless driving. IF not that then "drove too fast for conditions." I know that in my state, 8 points is reckless. You have to go to court and plead not guilty and ask to speak to the prosecuting attorney and ask for a plea bargain and see what they will offer you. MY 14 year old daughter was killed last May in exactly the manner you describe. She was a passenger in a car.

Odds aren't good for you. First off, you admit to losing control on gravel. Any officer who is going by the book at all is going to write you a ticket. He will make the point that if you had been driving near posted speed limit you wouldn't have had the wreck. You took a very foolish risk and you are lucky you didn't get hurt.

First, admit to the recklessness. Play on your age and hopefully this is your first offense. Request to go to a defensive driving class if that would help shave some money off the fine or points off your record. Hopefully that helps a bit. If not, bite the bullet and try to drive more safe.

I don't know. If you hav ean attorney, ask him. If you don't. none! I don't want to preach, but you need to slow down! It sounds like that could have ended very badly!!! Much worse than $300!
