Jehovah says in Deut. 18:20-22: "But a prophet who presumes to speak in my name anything I have not commanded him to say, or a prophet who speaks in the name of other gods, must be put to death. You may say to yourselves, “How can we know when a message has not been spoken by Jehovah?” If what a prophet proclaims in the name of Jehovah does not take place or come true, that is a message Jehovah has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously. Do not be afraid of him."

Nothing the Watchtower Organization has prophecied since its beginnings in the mid 1800's has come true. That's a 100% failure rate for an organization that claims to be God's "prophet in this generation."

It's evident the Bible does not consider Jehovah's Witnesses prophets.... so why should people listen to you?

Debbie2... I have spoken with Witnesses (many of whom are in my own family) and I've researched Awake and Watchtower publications going back to 1847. Which of those prophecies have come true that are you aware of? I have found none.

It seems like some of the Jehovah's Witnesses on this forum do not know the definition of prophesy.

Here you go, from the webster's dictionary: 3rd definition:

a prediction of something to come

Now if you all are going to sit here an say that the organization has never PREDICTED anything, therefore prophesied, you are not telling the truth.

I am a Jehovah's Witness as well and I know from research that the organization has made many prediction. This questioner has a valid point.

You (Jehovah's Witnesses) should not be so quick to refute something unless you know the facts of the matter.

Well one thing we talk about a lot is how bad the world will be before the end of the system of things and that is proof enough ever read (2 Timothy 3:1-5, or Matthew 24:37-39) I think all of that is happening right now, Oh and didn't we try and tell ppl then this is what Jesus had promised.
And everyone knows about the 4 Horsemen what about that I think those things have happened too....and we have also tried to warn ppl about false pagan worship I think it is funny how so many ppl in this past wk that were not JW had comments about why ppl are celebrating a false pagan holiday as their answer or question .

So maybe we are not so wrong about what is to come. GET YOUR BIBLE and read it. Oh and by the way many Christians says Jesus is to return on a cloud I haven't seen any Jesus on a cloud yet and look how long Iv been promised that..........

JWs did not make the prophecies. The Bible did.....such as....the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD by Roman armies and the temple being destroyed with not one stone left standing on another. Matthew 24:1-3, Luke 21:20-24...the end of the 7 Gentile times in 1914 AD, Jesus' baptism making him the messiah/christ (anointed) in 29 AD, etc.

Modern JWs have not made any prophecies though early ones did think they would go to heaven when the 7 Gentile times ended.

Some few individual witnesses or groups have set dates for themselves in various countries....many in the wealthy countries did so about 1975, those in poorer countries have for things going on in their country, etc.

They will say that they did not prophesy. You can stick a Watchtower under their nose that claims that they are the only modern day prophet of Jehovah, and they will still, with their last breath say that they did not say that.

Reasoning tells us, that they are Blinded by unbelief, and only the Grace and will of the Holy Spirit can help them to see.

The scriptures use the word "blinded" and that is exactly what is going on.

NMB...I rest my case. I understand where you are. I went door to door for 22 years, and I never had anyone tell me anything that even made me look at my faith...I just couldn't see...It was God that slapped me in the head, and took the blinders off, and It was so clear after that...It still makes my head spin, How obvious it was, and yet, I could not see it...that is why we need to keep these people in our prayers.

I see a lot of diversion here. a known Witness tactic..When you can't answer, tapdance!

"It's evident the Bible does not consider Jehovah's Witnesses prophets.... "

That's because Jehovah's Witnesses have never been nor claimed to be prophets at least not in the sense you think.

Look up "Prophet" in a dictionary.

Jehovah's Witnesses have never pretended that they are infallible or inspired. Jehovah's Witnesses have never pretended that they experience miraculous messages from God or Christ. For more than a century, Jehovah's Witnesses have always presented their suppositions as the result of sincere bible research, rather than as "predictions" or "prophesying".

Interestingly, however, even those Christians who did enjoy direct communication from heaven at times came to wrong conclusions; these wrong conclusions were even communicated "out among the brothers"!

For example, the apostle Peter enjoyed remarkable privileges in the early congregation, but it seems that he was the source of an incorrect teaching about the apostle John that was not formally corrected until several DECADES had passed, and John himself finally wrote his gospel about 98 C.E.

(John 21:21-23) Peter said to Jesus: “Lord, what will this man do [that is, the apostle John]?” Jesus said to him: “If it is my will for him to remain until I come, of what concern is that to you? You continue following me.” In consequence, this saying went out among the brothers, that [the apostle John] would not die. However, Jesus did not say to him that he would not die, but: “If it is my will for him to remain until I come, of what concern is that to you?”

Jehovah's Witnesses apply the term "prophet" only in a very limited sense to themselves as a religion, not to individuals. The Scriptures indicate that whenever Jehovah purposes to execute judgment upon a people, he always makes arrangement for a 'prophet's work' as a warning. Their self-description as a "prophet" (in this limited sense) does not indicate special inspired knowledge or foreknowledge, but their willingness to perform Christ's assigned warning work in our day leading up to Armageddon.

What group is working harder than Jehovah's Witnesses to preach God's message globally (as Noah did before the Deluge)?

(Amos 3:7) For the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will not do a thing unless he has revealed his confidential matter to his servants the prophets.

(2 Peter 2:5) Noah, a preacher of righteousness...

(Matthew 24:14) And this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come.

Prophecies like what? And what about YOUR religion. Did it participate in the pagan Christmas festivities? Does it venerate the pagan cross? Is it involved in the house-to-house ministry that Jesus encouraged his followers to be involved in just before he returned to heaven? No. I suppose not.

You are very misinformed.
The Watchtower has shone the light on many prophecies that have been fulfilled.
The Kingdom Hall phone number is in your book. Ask some Witness in person.
The results will be enlightening to you.
