Radio Star - it sounds like you've been hurt by the teaching of some Christians. I can assure you that true Christianity isn't about being self-centered and telling everyone you're going to hell without God.
I agree that many Christians and the Church overall have somewhat tarnished the message of Christ. If you really examine the words of Jesus and the life He lived on earth it's all about giving your life away to others......feeding the poor, helping the sick, the widow, declaring that there is good news......freedom from oppression, injustice, etc.
Jesus didn't go around threatening people with hell. Most times when he spoke about hell he was speaking to the religious leaders of the day. Christ didn't come to condemn people but to accept them, right where they are in life, with all of their weakness and imperfections..........no one is perfect. The message is we're not perfect but Christ is and He made the ultimate sacrifice for our imperfection. It's everyone choice to accept it or not accept it. It's not our job to judge anyone on what they decide. God alone is judge.
My purpose as a Christian to love God with all of my heart and to love others as myself.
You can't condemn love.

Hey Radio Star:
I not to sure I am in the right mood to answer your question but I will give it my best try.
The Christian faith is God revelation of His love for man. It tells the story of how a perfect creation fell and resulting in the downfall of humanity and how God chose to redeem man through the sacrifice of His Son Jesus Christ. This is the foundation of the Christian faith.
To heighten the level of my answer to you, think about the people now in this world, those in third world countries starving for food, some without clothing or shelter. The about the many atrocities that occur daily, the murders, and thefts, false accusation. How many people have been abused forgotten, misused and treated like dirt. How many millions of people die each generation never achieving any good thing in the life that they live.
There has got to be a judge, someone who can make things right, someone who can judge and condemn and sentence all those who created such horrid evils upon this earth. There has to be someone that will redeem and provide ultimate comfort and peace to those who died without receiving any good. This is the message that God brings that He will judge and redeem.
If I had no hope for this day, I will be angry hatefull and bitter towards life. But God makes a promise of a better day.
And if God can deliver on His promise, if He can bring me into a Heaven and give me eternal life, if I can trully walk on streets of Gold and be reunited with love ones, if I can truly never be sad again and never cry, would not God then be worth of my praises, should he not be glorified in my heart and in my songs of priase to Him.
The question that is now left is given to you, do you believe that He can do it ?
.....please dont hate those who believe, we are just hanging on and believing in what we belive is the only hope, can you blame us.

It is a curious thing that the Lord and Father of the Universe wanted to share His Love with you as a son, but chooses to teach you about the glory that is God, because He is the Creator. His glory is in His Love.
He says that He made you for perfection to be like Him, but that you must learn from Him. That is Fatherhood and God, because there is no other perfect Divinity {except for the Trinity.]
You have not learned his teachings so you should withhold your opinion until you start to read them. Look into these teachings from the Catholic Church and see if you change your mind, in all fairness. [see URL]
It is a strange thing to call love arrogant because it is first of all humble. But because God's love is all good and extraordinary, raising men to the heights of angels, it is certainly glorious.

When it comes right down to it, the only reason why you choose not to believe is that you know if you did, you would have to change your life style in some way.
You don’t like the idea of handing over your life to someone else whose going to tell you what you can and can not do.
Bottom line is you want to run your life as you see fit.
Well fine, go ahead and be your own boss; sooner or later you’re going to get sick and tired of constantly getting yourself into one mess after another. When you’ve finally had enough of yourself, Jesus will be there to help you pick up the pieces of your broken shattered life and give you the joyful, peaceful life you could have had all along.

Nope. It is the silliness of man to think that a PERFECT being needs anything from us. The Bible is a series of stories and metaphors and analogies told and retold by men. THAT is why it contains the human failings of fear, doom, wrath, incest, hate, spite, and judging. Perfect beings don't roll like that. Even Jesus on earth didn't roll like that. He didn't preach Christianity because it didn't exist. Christians made it up after he left. Jesus taught a way of living and being and doing. That is all. They sure don't make Jews like Jesus anymore.
Fear generates the responses that you get from the name brand religious. "Handing your life over to" whatever, allows people to pretend that they are not responsible for their results. God has put us into a cause and effect universe. It's called sowing and reaping.
Remember, religion is for people who are trying to keep from going to hell. Spirituality is for people who have already been there.
Your light is brightest when you don't buy into a preaching of fear and judgment and other human trappings. Always come from love and you'll never be lost. It's that unbelievably simple.

Worship of God is not "human arrogance," as one of the chief requirements in Christianity and Judaism is to HUMBLE YOURSELF before God.
It is hardly "human arrogance" for humans to create a story of a God that declares them to all be sinners, imperfect, and incapable of pleasing Him on their own. A truly "arrogant human" would create a god that approves of anything and everything that humans do, rather that give a list of things considered wrong, evil, sinful, and abominable.
Humanism is arrogant: I must glorify ME, in contrast to faith that says we are to deny ourselves and glorify God.
No, you have it all wrong. However, your statement answers your question: can you be convinced? NO, because you do not wish to be convinced, period.

why would an omnipotent divine god need his creation to worship him? Probably, anything that needs to be worship isn't god but the devil.
cheezy: He is asking about the religion of christianity, not questioning the christian faith. Do you know that jesus himself condemn religion? Read Matthew 23.

I am NEVER telling ANYONE that.
Generalize much, don't you?
YOU are the arrogant one.
Re-read your rant.
You seem to worship your opinion.
My answer to your question is NO. I can't convince you.
Your arrogance stands in the way.

I`m not answering the question here, just making one correction ....
There is only one thing about religion which I am 100% certain of: Religion is SERVING THE humanity BY WORSHIPPING ITS CREATOR.

Good. You are God's answer to life and if you allow yourself there are very few limits on this. And you realize yourself as the finite manifestation of His infinite existence. But suicide bombers think and feel the same way so... are you one of those?
