I have been in the religioun and spirituality section for about 30 minutes and keep seeing all these ppl saying that God doesnt exist. If he doesnt, then why would you go to the religion and spirituality section. Seems you may be questioning yourself!

Why atheists visit the "R&S" section:

We know many of the answers. ("God doesn't exist" IS an answer, just one that many won't want to hear)
We're interested in the topics.
We've made friends there.

And of course... when we try to discuss our theological perspectives in the "Cats" section, they tell us to scram.

It really depends on the individual. Opposites do attract, but I have noticed that some atheists have missionary tendencies.
Most Spiritualities insist that deity, whether God or Goddess,
is found within; yet atheists insist that people believe in a sky wizard, that is, something found outside of ourselves. It is really a red herring. I think this is especially since they have no explanation for Murphy's Law, that I have seen. In my fifty years, I have met maybe one or two atheists that might consider that there is something that is not usually encountered by ordinary sensations.

Maybe we're trying to help people think outside of the God box.

I'm not sure how people get the idea that just because you are not a believer of any diety that you automatically shed no light on the subject of religion and spirituality. But then again, you must not know enough about Atheism.

whoa there girlie, I would consider myself a spiritual atheist, so don't assume to know so much.
If religion weren't constantly trying to pervade my life (i.e. the gov't, the education system, even at 7am on my doorstep) I would probably be less interested in this crap.
But still, I like to read the more "intellectual" debates when they show up once in a blue moon, and I am interested in knowing why people choose to believe what they do, and it's fun to be able to push someone's buttons every now and again.
If it bothers you, go somewhere more serious than an internet free-for-all site like this one.
You may as well also ask why there are meat eaters in the vegetarian section and unenvironmentally friendly people in the green living section.

First of all, an atheist can indeed be spiritual. Many Buddhists, for instance, are atheists. Some of us also see the word, "spirit" as a non-literal term to mean your identity, and therefore "spiritual" is anything that stimulates the mind, emotions, or mentality. Meditation, for example, which I practice regularly.

I agree with you.
They are searching for the truth and if they keep searching they will find it.
Don't pay any attention to what they say in defense of their views. If they truly believed them they wouldn't be here attacking Christians. God said that he put it into every man to know him.
So they really do know God exist and they don't want to admit it. It's like the kid caught with his hand in the cookie jar, saying no I didn't take a cookie. If they actually admitted they knew God was real they would have to admitt that they are a sinner in need of a savior. Following that acknowledgment, they would then be faced with a choice to make, either ignore what God says and keep sinning, or repent from their sinful ways and follow God.

Just because I am atheist, does not mean that I am not a spiritualist. I may not believe in god or satan, I may not believe in heaven or hell. But I do believe that when we die, our life force returns to the atmosphere, unless we had unfinished business here on Earth or if the person was evil, they are bound to Earth. Thus, the ghosts.

I agree, it makes no sense to me other than stupidity from some of the questions I see posted here. Some obviously are not trying to have a dialog sensibly.

we are actually very fortunate that they are involved.
if we love people and want the best for them [that is- a saved relationship with GOD] we have a mission field put
right at our keyboard.
thank GOD for it. keep your expectations low because we
can't open anyone's eyes. and we will be hated as CHRIST was.
but GOD's WORD will accomplish it's desired end and some will probably be saved.
our work will be truly rewarded if we just take the
proper attitude.

Its like this Kacie , Deep down inside these atheists know or fear that there is a God. And they love their sin and they don't want to give it up . Therefore they slam God, slam his servants and say all manner of evil against them to assuage their own deep rooted guilt . They can not get rid of this guilt because God put it there. It's called the conscience. Then to top it off they try to persuade others to join them in their sin.. Paul said it all ....

Romans 1:28 -32 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
Without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

The non-believer is constantly trying to prove that there is no God. Way down deep in their inner Soul, it is telling them to obey God. They are at a war with themselves. Stuck in the middle of not knowing which way to turn and yet way down deep in their sub-conscious mind, it is telling them there is a God. As they become older , they will turn to face the true facts that God does exist.
