Hello, all:

Christians, is there something about Wiccans and/or the Wiccan religion -- anything at all -- that you can acknowledge as admirable?

Look for a sister question in a moment, and thank you to everyone who takes the time to respond.

Oh, yes! They are kind, they are accepting and respectful. They treat others as they want to be treated. The Wiccan Creed (or whatever it is called) is cool. They do good and not evil. They are peace-makers.
I have NEVER seen ANY Wiccan attack or insult ANYONE.

If I were not a Christian, I would be a Wiccan.

Up until recently, I could have said yes. Before the Bush years, I could still admire aspects of their faith. But now, with a Surgeon General who preaches homosexuality is a disease that threatens the health of all Americans, and with a resolution showing favor for their religion above all others, I can't. I've read the comments above; For every book the preserved in the middle ages, there were libraries burned. Can you imagine what was ion the libraries of Alexandria, or the libraries of the Aztecs? Sure, they have charities, but they also support politicians that drive us to war, restrict our rights, destroy our environment and drive the economy into the toilet. Would we need charities if a person could make a living wage? Yes, the architecture is lovely, especially the pillars in the Vatican that are made from the bronze that was looted of the Parthenon. I've also read so many posts on here that are hostile and threatening while claiming to be loving. So, sadly, no, I can no longer find anything admirable in that faith, but I respect the individual's right to hold and practice their faith.

Much, with those who actually adhere to the religion (just as people say they can actually admire devout Christians rather than hypocritical ones). The respect for and oneness with creation, balanced by the ability to see the spiritual and not only the physical; the Wiccan Rede; the peacefulness of many of the adherents.

While I would not generalize over any religion perse; the fact of the matter is if I were on the lying side of the road bleeding to death and fighting for my life after getting violently jumped, ... then two Christians passed me by without getting involved, then a Wiccan or someone of another religion came by and wrapped me in a tourniquet, rushed me to a hospital and later checked on my condition, I would consider that individual more of a brother to me than those who passed me by; even though our spiritual beliefs were different; this is a spin on the parable of the Good Samaritan, that we should do likewise.

They are more honest that those in Christendom, more willing to talk about religion and check historical information, more willing to search for truth, etc.

They have concern for the earth and animals. The Bible promises that never again will every thing living be destroyed. Genesis 8:21, That the earth will last forever. Eccles. 1:4 and that righteous people plus the animals and plants will live here forever (no meat eating). Psalm 37:11, 29, Matthew 5:5, Isaiah 11:6-9, Gen. 8:22.

The wiccans I know also do not war. The Bible teaches Christians not to war...Romans 12:19-21, Matthew 5:38-48, Shows that true religion in the last days will refuse to learn war any more. Micah 4:1-5

So they have much in common with Bible truth that is missing in mainline Christendom.

And Christendom practices things they know are pagan/unbiblical and deny it. Pagans/Wiccans are honest about it.

I used to be a self-practitioner of Wicca and other earth-magick paths.
What had drawn me to such beliefs was disillusionment over Christianity. I had MANY biblical questions that no one could answer.
What I read on Wiccans, I loved- they are HIGHLY spiritual. They feel the life (and death) of everything all around them and are highly tuned to it. They're highly empathetic toward all of creation.
They can pick and chose what to practice and what to disregard so long as it doesn't hurt someone: "Do what thou wilt- so long as it harms none." I admire that greatly.
Generally speaking, they are non-judgmental and peaceable toward people and nature.
I also liked the symbolic nature of ritual/spiritual/earth magick and the interpration of omens and dreams (viewing life as one big puzzle made life feel more fresh and ALIVE).

But in my heart of hearts I can only worship Jehovah God. I couldn't disregard his Word and as I learned more about him I left my spiritistic life behind me.
I still have respect for the people who practice, even if I don't agree with them.

For those who refuse to have an open mind, it is hard to find anything admireable about anything "different." What a shame.

Outraged Minister: It is your attitude and bio mindset that my answer is directed toward. It is that mindset that refuses to look outside the box and even think that there may be a bigger picture to spirituality and/or religion and beliefs. I too am an ordained minister and I left the fundamentalist realm after realizing that there were many things that did not make sense in the context of reality, not the narrow-mind "just accept it and don't ask questions" that I was taught. Attitude such as yours keeps the world in darkness.

Yes. A desire for truth and kindness. My sister is a Wiccan and I am a traditional/devote Catholic.

I think YOU are admirable and kind, prairiecrow. We don't agree in our beliefs, but I respect your kindness on here very much. Not all Wiccan's are like you...I've met one very rude one on here who tends to spew hatred, although I certainly don't believe she's typical of Wiccans in general. :) As for the Wiccan religion, I appreciate their respect for nature and creation. I wouldn't know. I've never met a Wiccan and don't know anything about them, so I can't say anything about them either way (and I wouldn't say anything bad about people I don't know, that would be rude!)
