My cat has been licking bald spots in her fur and meowing aloooot more, and there deeper meows.. She used to be an outside cat but since the neighbors got kinda mad, we kept her inside, but that was about 2-3 months ago. I think she might have fleas but I tried looking and found none. I'd take her to the vet but were low on cash. And suggestions?

When you're looking for fleas, it's best to look for flea dirts (poos) rather than the actual fleas, which are hard to find except in bad infestations. Flea dirts look like black specks, and they turn red when wetted because they're digested blood. Comb your cat with a flea comb and check the hair on the comb for flea dirts, or comb her over some wet paper and see if any of them fall on to the paper and turn red.

If you find flea dirts, that's likely to be your answer - you have to use flea treatments from a vet though, because store-bought ones and home remedies don't work. If you don't find any flea dirts then you'll have no choice but to take her to a vet to find the answer. This doesn't necessarily have to be expensive - just pay for a consult fee to get an idea of what's going on, they can't make you spend more than that if you don't want to, but you'd get better answers from them than you will on here. Hell, you'll get better answers by just picking up the phone to a vet than on here!

I highly suggest taking her to the vet as soon as possible. It could be as simple as an allergy to something.

She might have a bun in the oven.
