I would look her straight in the face and say "I don't like playing games, the next time you want a present don't tell me that you don't want one."
I wouldn't feel bad, let her know that you are not feeling guilty because you honestly believed that you were doing what she wanted you to do. If she can't be honest with you then you will have no idea what she wants.

What a crazy woman.
My mum did the exact same thing a couple of years ago, and then got pissed when she did not receive anything.
I have learnt that from now on when one of your parents says they do not want anything, to tell them that you wanted to do something nice for them anyway, and give them a goddamn present!
Parents, especially mothers are mostly insane.

Well, most people when asked what they want say they don't want anything. We all know this is complete crap. EVERYBODY always wants something. So go buy her a card & shove some money in it, and let her buy what she wants.... She will get over herself and maybe next time when some one asks her what she wants, she will give an honest answer.

I still would of gotten her something because I think people who get depressed around X-mas time are the ones who need a thoughtful gift the most. But either way, she shouldn't be angry with you, that's just disrespectful of her, and she brought it on herself!

You should have gotten your mother something no matter what she said. My dad use to tell my sister and me not to get him anything for Christmas but we always would. We did not have much money but we always got him something.

Well sorry but it is not your fault.
If she wanted a gift then she should of left it alone.
Personally, I don't do Christmas anyway. I wouldn't want a gift in all honesty.

I just would have brought her something little. You could bake her cookies or something to make up for it.
