i have made 34,300 dollars this year and the government took 8,952 dollars way. how much should i get back?

i am 20. single no dependents. i have paid 1830 out of pocket for school.

No way to say. Would need a lot more information.

That is WAY high for income tax withholding. In fact, it's way high for income tax, Social Security and Medicare so it must include state taxes as well.

We'd need to know your filing status, number of dependents if any, if you can be claimed as a dependent yourself (with that income, probalby not, but need to know for sure), your age, any itemized deductions, and retirement contributions as well as a complete breakdown of how the taxes were actually withheld. Put that up and you may get a meaningful number. Without it, I won't even take a guess as it could be terribly wrong.
