I love researching quotes. It took some digging, but I believe this is the original version of the quote by the first person who said it. Somewhere along the line, many people decided that imitation was the sincerest form of flattery. The quote as you have written it appears -- unattributed or attributed to others -- has nearly 200,000 hits when you do a google search.
