i have a nikon F-501, aka N2020, and i can't get it to load the film. its has a motor, but i haven't a clue how to activate it. I am new to this so I assume its not working is just a result of my ignorance. Below are pictures of the camera.

Find the button that releases the door on the back of the camera. Take a roll of film and pull some leader out and lay it over the opening where indicated. Close the back and it will autowind to the beginning of the roll.

Based on your photo's, I'd send it out for a CLA before you do anything, and I would not be surprised if it is broken, considering it's state of neglect. Have you been using that poor camera for a wheel chalk block, or are you a war correspondent ? Also check the battery compartment for corrosion on the terminals due to batt leakage, and if they are messy, use a pencil eraser to remove the crud. You may not be getting any battery power, as that model camera should autoload after inserting the film and laying the leader over to the take up spool.

G'Luck with it, it's a shame, because that used to be a nice camera....
