Noooo.
I'm Mormon so I think that Joseph Smith was a prophet. So
I don't think anything is based off of Catholic traditions because of that and because the catholic and lds church are quite different in some aspects.
I think that if anything, the LDS practices would be more accurately compared to Freemason ones. Even though I am Mormon, I acknowledge that some of the things we Mormons do are similar to some of the Freemason practices.

No, I do not. he based Mormon teachings on revelation he received from God. If some of them resemble beliefs of other faiths, it would be because at some point, before the apostasy from the truth that was predicted in the Bible's New Testament, some of those other faiths beliefs resembled what Christ taught, but were changed over the centuries. The purer truths were again restored to the earth through Joseph Smith

Yes there are similiar practices and some that differ. The Catholic Church has a priesthood based on apostalic authority. Our priesthood makes the same claim. Both churches have a belief that the dead may be redeemed. Both are based on the atonement of Jesus Christ. We believe in the sactity of life.

We differ on baptism and the sacrament, but these ordinances are the most debated by every denomination.

Well I know that he was a Mason and the Temple endowment (secret handshakes, holy underwear marks, etc) is a big COPY CAT version of Massionry!!
Oh and he read a book and COPIED what a previous author had written what his thought were.............

In 1784 a man by the name of Emanuel Swedenborg wrote a book about his visions of the afterlife. Swedenborg insisted: "There are three heavens," described as "entirely distinct from each other." He called the highest heaven "the Celestial Kingdom," and stated that the inhabitants of the three heavens corresponded to the "sun, moon and stars."

hum ..sound like mormonism to me!! :)

No, but I believe that the Catholic church still has some remnants of truth in their teachings, ordinances and traditions.

Joseph Smith restored the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ upon the earth and with the authority of the priesthood restored by John the Baptist, and the apostles, Peter, James and John -- the Church of Jesus Christ was once again organized upon the face of the earth April 6th, 1830.

I'm told its based ritually almost entirely on freemasonry.I've never been to the temple. Nor have I been exposed to freemasonry. So, I can't say whether this is true or false.Church service wise I see next to no similarities between the mormons/catholics.

Logically speaking, if Mormons are base on Catholic, then those so call "Christians" would have no problem accepting us as Christians.

As an atheist, why would YOU care what they believe? You certainly have a lot of hatred saved up for the LDS church.
The gospel of Jesus Christ, is WHAT the LDS Church practices, are based on.
13,000,000 members, don't seem to have the problems with this religion, that YOU do!
If I were you, I'd pay attention to YOUR so called code of ethics, and start PRACTICING them, and find something else, to occupy your time.
Your BIGOTRY is getting ugly, and it is also getting real old!
