Hi,

I am 15 years old and for the past 3 or so weeks, I have been having some problems.

My chest occasionally burns, my esophagus feels inflamed, and i feel this acid gunk run up my throat....also, I breathe really deep for no reason once in a while, and burp ALOT.
I went to the doctors 1 1/2 weeks ago and they took chect xrays and checked my heart and they said my lungs and heart were fine...they said it MAY be Acid Reflux. So they told me to take this medicine (it starts witha P i forget) and Mylanta.
Well, I didnt do anything for a week and now this past week it started up again...
Could it be acid reflux?
I really don't want to go back to the doctors...
but I'm scared...and I don't want to die of it or anything...

The 'P' medicine you're talking about is called Protonix.
I take it too.
I went to the doctor because I was having really bad heart pains, like it felt like I was having heart attacks. They did all the same tests and diagnosed me with Gerd.
Gastroesophogal Reflux disease.
It's a type of acid reflux that is normally worse.
When I started taking the medicine it was the same, it didn't help at all for the first couple of weeks but after a while it will get better.
It's nothing to freak out about. It's just a really big nuiscance but defenitly not life threatening.

Sure sounds like acid reflux. Did the Dr.send you for a barium swalow? That may be your next step. Meanwhile take your mylanta. If it doesn't work you may need something like nexium. please don't ignore this. Acid reflux can destroy your esophagus. Try the medication and if you continue to have problems go back to the Dr.
