To mock is wrong, to have a sense of humor is ok.

It depends on the intent of the joke and the joker. If a joke mocks God, for example, that would be sacrilege and yes, sinful. But some jokes are just harmless fun, for example the following:

'A pastor went visiting one afternoon. He knocked on one door several times, but no one answered. He could see though the window that the television was on, so he took one of his cards, wrote "Revelations 3:20" on it and slid it under the door. (Revelations 3:20 says, "Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone will open, I will come in.")

'The following Sunday, the pastor found a card in the collection plate with the following message: "Genesis 3:10". ("I heard thy voice and I was naked, so I hid myself.")'

This joke extracts words from the Bible and puts them in another context. In this context, they don't offend anyone and do not mock God or anything holy. So there's no sin.

God is not thin skinned. And really, there are sections in the Bible where you KNOW God has a sense of humor.

If you can't make fun of yourself once in awhile - you're taking yourself and life too seriously and should lighten up. So yes - I think Christians should be allowed to make jokes and fun about the bible, Jesus, and any other aspect of their religion.

Everything you do is considered a sin by Christians. You can't win if you embrace that mindless philosophy. Even thinking of things is a sin. Forget thought police at your door and window, god's everywhere, inside you watching, judging. Without this fear Christians wouldn't have half their power.
