The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. You can prove it to yourself by reading it. It does testify of Christ and contains His teachings. Yes, there have been changes to it. It was altered into verses and chapters and has had a few grammatical changes applied to it (insertion of commas and periods) to make for easier reading. Later, references were added to incorporate easier doctrinal study and cross referencing with the Bible. People who claim it was altered are making a lot of noise about something they are quite ignorant of.

Some are hung up on it being apart from the Bible. The Bible (meaning sacred record or collection of books) does not contain the sole word of God. The Bible mentions within it's pages other books cited as credible sources that are not contained within it. They probably were at one time and had been lost. The Bible is a collection of prophetic writings that have come through the ages, and was not in its present form until relatively recently. There are many versions of the Bible, so when people claim exclusive knowledge of the Bible, I'm constrained to ask: What version do you hold to? The Church uses the King James Version.

Some of limited understanding quote scripture found in Revelations that suggest you shouldn't add to or take from the scriptures to argue against the Book of Mormon. That argument is fallacious. The words are found nearly verbatim within Deuteronomy 4:2 and it is clear that those scriptures are not intended to limit the Lord in his revelations to His children, but to protect the scriptures from unscrupulous translation or alteration of the words the Lord has revealed. In that sense, those using the argument of "adding to or taking from" are guilty of this by telling the Lord that He must be forever silent now. Using scripture as these seek to apply it would negate the entire rest of the Old Testament and all of the New Testament. Further, the Book of Revelation was written before some of the other books of the New Testament, but was placed last in our version, not in chronological order, so if you applied that verse even to the New Testament, you would be throwing out a chuck of the New Testament that was written after the Book of Revelation.

Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon from records that he stated were of gold and brass. There were witnesses as found in the preface of the Book of Mormon, and even though some of these later became disassociated from the Church, they never denied their witness concerning the existence of the plates or the translation of it. Once the translation was completed, Joseph returned the record. The Lord should not be faulted for wanting to preserve His records from the world. They have the translation as He desired it translated. If you don't like it, take it up with Him.

Defame him all you want, but Joseph Smith stood tall and died great for his convictions, and was loved of his people. I believe in the Book of Mormon, having read and studied it and prayed about it. No other physical proof is available for it or the Bible, currently, but I know them both to be the Word of God through the evidences of the Spirit. Anyone of faith, especially those who are seeking to develop a personal relationship with Christ can receive this witness and I challenge you to read all the scriptures, including the Book of Mormon.

Yes. It is. One need only read it with sincerity and real intent to discover its truths to be able to determine that. Jesus Christ is mentioned some 6,000 times in the 500 page book. It is indeed another testament of Christ's divinity.

To learn the truth about the Book of Mormon, one can apply the promise made to us by that Book's final author,

And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost.
And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things.

I have done this and found my answer. the Book of Mormon is the word of God. You can find that same answer if you seek it.

The answer is an emphatic yes! Throughout the Book of Mormon (notice the capitalization of words as proper nouns) the Lord Jesus Christ figures prominently and His Gospel supports the testimony shown.

It is the same Lord and Savior of mankind that was known as the great Jehovah of Old Testament times, the very God of Israel.

Amid the many wars related in the Book of Mormon, our Lord and His Gospel stands above as the living testimony of today.

It is naive to believe people only existed on 1/2 the world in Christ's time. The native Americans got here some how. The book of Mormon tells of it.

I used to be a Mormon and have read he Book of Mormon. It is supposed to be a record of Christ's appearing on this continent..I don't have a strong belief in the Book of Mormon or the Bible. What is interesting though is that there is extensive genealogy in the Book of Mormon and when that information is put in computers now no one has found any errors. Pretty remarkable.

Yes. The BoM has stood the test of time for over 170 years critics have been trying to prove that it is fraudulent. Over time each of there arguments has been demolished.I have found that those who deride the B of M have only taken a shallow look a the book. one eg is that there are poetic structures called Chiaisims in the book that it would have been impossible for JS to have known. As Hebrew scholars have only found out recently that they existed in ancient Hebrew writing.
www.jefflindsay.com is an excellent site that I highly recommend to anyone who whats to seriously study the B of M.

The book of Mormon is God's dealings with the people on the American Continent, likely in Central America, where most of the ruins are that go back that far. Some are in Ohio too that go back that far and as far South as Peru.

These folks came over in three separate groups. The main group came over before the fall of Jerusalem. As in the old testament, they lived righteously, but had a lot of trouble with it at times and eventually fell completely away from Christ in about 400 AD and the record stopped.

Christ is the same everywhere. The Truth is the same everywhere, so it is another witness. Some Christian concepts are explained better in the B of M. Some are explained slightly better in the Bible. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints believe both to be the word of God. We also believe that Christ likely visited the 10 missing Tribes, and likely Asia, and so other records will come forth some day.

why not? The Bible is God's teachings to the people of the Arabic nations....why then can't the Book of Mormon be God's teachings to the people in this Hemisphere? On another point I do believe this question to be a leading one for contention and bad mouthing of the mormon faith.

I used to be a Mormon and I read The Book of Mormon twice. It has a couple of things going for it; it is a much easier read than the Bible and it has a story you can follow.

It is as much as testament to a non-existent deity as any other.

Yes. Prophets always testify of Christ, whether of the promised Messiah, the living Christ, the resurrected Savior. The Book of Mormon is the record of God's dealings with some of the inhabitants of ancient America. Including the visitation of the resurrected Jesus Christ to the faithful saints gathered at the Temple.
