I would like to lower my rear stock on my 870. I have heard of others putting washers, paper and other items in the joint of the reciever and stock. Does anyone know if there are any shims or other devices manufactured to lower a stock on an 870?

No offense, but it is common to adjust the angle of the rear stock for trap guns.
If you are truly a smith, you would know that Benelli shotguns come with such shims. The question is... are they made for the 870

Settle down. I own both Benellis and Remingtons. I am not an expert...and don't claim to be. If you are a smith, I respect that, yet if you are unaware of such modifications, don't get upset. (I urge you to look at Benelli's web page) It is very likely that someone with your experience may be able to provide others, me included, with an alternative to my inqury. The specific function of the gun is irrelivant, the modification is the question. Thank you for your input.

hi there
i know you can buy an adjustable butt plate for most shot guns and they will bring the stock down for you ,i don't think you should put anything between the stock and receiver , there is a lot of pressure there.

As a Gunsmith, I admit I have no idea what you mean by trying to "lower" your Butt Stock on your 870..I would recommend you NOT try and shim the stock to receiver with washers, shims etc, as it will do nothing but possibly cause your shotgun stock to fracture when fired as it would directly effect the angle of recoil. In effect you would be altering the design.......There is nothing being manufactured for this purpose...

*You failed to mention your reason, as well as the fact that you intend to use the shimmed stock for shooting trap..You also added the Benelli issue after the fact, not that it matters....A Benelli is NOT a Remington 870. NO OFFENSE.
