The Spirit or Soul
This is described as having no mass, no wave-length,no energy and no time or location in space except by consideration or postulate.
The spirit is not a "thing". It is the "creator" of things.
The usual residence of the soul, (spirit, awareness of awareness unit....YOU) is in the skull or near the body.
YOU are your own immortal soul.
The soul can be in one of four conditions.
1. Entirely separate from a body or bodies.
2. Near a body and knowingly controlling the body.
3. In the body (the skull).
4. An inverted condition, compulsively away from the body and unable to approach it.

There are degrees of each of the above 4 conditions.
The most optimum of these from the standpoint of man, is the second.

The Mind
This is a communication and control system between the spirit and it's (his) environment.
The mind is a network of communications and pictures, energies and masses, which are brought into being by the activities and interactions of the spirit with the Physical Universe and other spirits/individuals.
These activities include the operating of a body and the solving
of problems related to survival and existence.
The mind has 2 Parts:
The Analytical Mind. The keynote of this mind is awareness. One knows what one is concluding and knows what one is doing.
The Reactive Mind. This is a stimulus response mechanism.
This mind acts below the level of consciousness. It never stops operating unlike the Analytical Mind which can be less aware or even completely unconscious.

The Body
A carbon/oxygen engine. This can best be studied in such books as "Grey's Anatomy" and other anatomical texts.

In my philosophy of mind course the most popular definition seemed to be that to have a soul is to have awareness. However, does that mean people who are comatose or unconscious do not have a soul? And where does the soul reside, if it does indeed exist? Is it just a result of various chemicals and neurons in the brain? Is it a physical part of us? Is it even inside of our bodies? If our bodies are damaged, does that mean our souls are too?

There are endless questions concerning this, but philosophers, neurologists, and psychologists have yet to give us a clear and definite answer.

The soul is the core of a person being, the things we do
reflects the soul good or evil. A re-incarnated soul is a
past life experience, that takes form in another.

Your soul is you. It's what makes you..YOU. It's a combination of emotion, conscience and consciousness. It's what makes you think the way you do, act the way you do, It's everything you were taught to be and what your faith leads you to be. It's the part of you that is pure energy and is what "goes to heaven" or wherever your belief leads it to go. Some people believe this energy is absorbed into the living things around you( esp. loved ones) and is what allows them to carry you with them.
My point is your soul is your very essence of being. Without it your just a hollow shell waiting for death to come and take you.

The definition of soul......
The soul, according to many religious and philosophical traditions, is a self-aware ethereal substance unique to a particular living being. In these traditions the soul is thought to incorporate the inner essence of each living being, and to be the true basis for sentience. ..

Your soul is your higher self. It contains more beauty than you could ever imagine. There is endless potential in your soul. You can contact it and get to know it better by meditating. Meditation is easy; it consists of sitting or lying in a comfortable position, closing your eyes, focusing on your breath, and trying to clear all thoughts from your mind and relax.

A soul is that part of your conscience that is permanent. It is what makes us uniquely human. Some people think ,wrongly, it doesn't exist. This is sad. You cant see a personality or a thought but you can tell when these things go wrong.

It is also noteworthy that the terms ne′phesh and psy·khe′ are applied to animals. Concerning the creation of sea and land creatures, the Bible says: “God went on to say: ‘Let the waters swarm forth a swarm of living souls [“creatures,” New English Bible] and let flying creatures fly over the earth’ . . . God proceeded to create the great sea monsters and every living soul that moves about . . . ‘Let the earth put forth living souls according to their kinds, domestic animal and moving animal and wild beast of the earth according to its kind.’”—Genesis 1:20-24. Anything that's Breathing,Man ,animal,etc...

Its an imaginary thing that Religious fanatics made up that (supposedly) is in your heart.
They belive it is what binds your mortal body to the earth, For the only people that belive people have souls are usually religious people.
And they think that everyone has a certian set time on earth and that every move you make is already known and planned out and set in your "soul", and that is where the word "destiny" comes in to play.
I myself think its all bogus, but that is just my opinion.
hope that helps =)

It's something made up in ancient times to try to scare people into doing stuff. Example: 'If you don't follow this law, you soul will be sent straight to hell!'
