I don't mock anyone's religion, nor am I rude.
I do find it difficult to give credibility to one who is so sure they are right and I am wrong, that they can't even listen politely to my opinion or belief, or accept that I have the right to think or believe differently than they do.
This is a forum for discussion. If you can't listen and respond to a different view point, no discussion is possible.
Some religious people also act as if I am attacking them simply by having a different view point. It feels bad to be treated as an attacker when I haven't attacked anyone.

I guess a lot of people find the lack of tolerance toward those who don't share the same faith they do, an unpleasant trait. We are told that this or that religion is more tolerant and believes in loving their fellows. Whilst what we see is countries and people devastated and destroyed by wars of religion.
When we see more of the "live and let live" principle in action, maybe there'll less of the attitude. Personally, I have no problems at all will people practising (strange phrase), their faiths and filling their churches/temples/mosques etc. As long as they're not telling me how terrible things will befall me if I don't do the same, then I'm quite happy to let them get on with it. I work in an environment where people rely on and draw a lot of comfort from their beliefs and I'm glad, if it gives them the strenght they need to survive, then good luck to them. I certainly don't feel the need to mock their belief.
However, there is often a real air of pomposity and of knowing best that emanates from certain believers, a rather smug air of superiority - now that does irritate and is unecessary.
So I've said my bit, hope it hasn't been seen as nasty, I have no idea which religion you follow, hope it makes you happy. Have a happy 2008.

truthfully I am such a person why I mock such people is because I lack respect for someone who won't form their own theories on a subject they lack thought they lack creativity they lack the very thing that makes a person human the mind and something that supposedly god gave to us free will they believe unconditionally in something now they may of freely chosen to do so but where is their choice since people who convert after joining a religion are trash talked smeared with nasty names and called traitors heathens blasphemers where is the choice what person in their right mind would leave an easy life even if it were a lie for such an existence I know that I don't believe yet I lie to my parents because it makes life easier for me so is my answer sufficient to your liking although I doubt it all I have said is true and I am not rude and pompous I simply state my beliefs and argue against yours that doesn't make me rude just contradictory and I am more humble than most people ever will be and I am only 15 now tell me how am I the one who is wrong.

There is no proof at all that religion of any sort is actually based on anything real, it can also be said that there is no proof at all to say that it does not exist. So why all the fuss? If you choose to believe, then great and if you choose not to believe, then great also. BUT don't try to justify or force you beliefs ideas on anyone else, that goes for believers and non believers. It's the aforementioned that annoys people. With regard to the question - It takes all sorts of people to make up this world, best just to get on with it!!

The religious are very quick to attack, non believers. It is they who are rude and pompous, and nasty toward those who choose NOT to believe in, any well known deities.
that includes pagan, Greek, ect.

Wow, everbrook, I can see by the answers on your profile, that YOU are one of the main reasons why atheists would be inclined to be defensive, toward christians!
As for your political views, and you should keep them to yourself.
Democrat liberals rule, and so does the ACLU!!!\
And Republican conservatives, are not too bight.

Some people never make it out of the 6th grade.
They think using illogical fallacies makes them logical.
Hey if you say, God is NOT real enough it might come true. But shoot, I could say, I can fly! I can fly! Maybe if I say it enough it will come true? Uhh maybe not.
They think they are being funny.
They have nothing better to do with their lives. In that they have no life. Well, actually everyone without Jesus has no life.
They want to get reactions.
They are depressed and sad but are too prideful to admit it.
They know deep down God is real, but want to please their Atheist friends.
They are angry at God who they don't believe exists because He let their ice cream melt on them when they were 4 years old.

Believers ought to be mocked.... Your ideas are preposterous and you interfere with the reasonable and logical decisions of our law-makers and educators. You are a menace to society much more so than you are an addition to it.
Stop 'blindly feeling' your way through life and start thinking...

I am with the first answer.
Some Religious folks are willing to ram religion down peoples throat any any occasion yet on the other hand there are non believers who are willing and ready to ridicule people for following faith.
Personally I am Athiest, I have no issues with anybody following any religion.
My Nanna was a catholic but it just turned out that Religion was not for me.
No harm done to anybody.

People who don't want to be mocked and laughed at shouldn't have such silly beliefs.
I personally will continue to mock and laugh at Christians until they have Psalms 14:1 removed from the Bible...then I'll let up...a little.
