How did people like knights and stuff have muscle? Was it because of using there sword alot? Or did they do type of weight lifting? Because im wanting to find a workout that will not only get me bulk, but also become a very good fighter.
If there is such a way, please let me know.

They led a much more active lifestyle. The serfs toiled in the field from sunrise to sunset doing backbreaking work. The knights were constantly doing work as well. They began as small children, working almost as indentured servants to older, more experienced knights...carrying, lifting, caring for, polishing armor and other belongings. Then as seasoned knights they would practice wearing about 50lbs of armor if not more. Lifting heavy swords and riding on horseback.

Makes our treadmills and such look so insignificant in comparision.

They actually had to WORK in the middle ages. If we had to, for example get water up from a well instead of turning on the tap, we'd have more muscle too. I doubt the did much weight lifting. As a squire, a would-be knight owuld have had to fetch and carry for his master as well as his sword training etc.

well some people dont even do weights or anything to get bulk its just the way their bodies grow. But anyway they got muscle from training with swords and carrying 100 pound suits of armor every day and possibly running around in them. Im guessing warriors back then trained reguarly

The times they lived in didn't allow for much lounging around to get fat. Daily routines probably kept them in shape while their constant training made them good fighters. Even the Greeks had their own "basic training." Just look at the Spartans. They actually had a regular workout routine. History Channel had a special last summer.

they did a lot of combat training which will have similar effects on muscle mass to weight training today. also back then they didn't have cars or computers or any machines that did work for them. manuel labor is very difficult and made any body back then in much better shape then anyone now-a-days.

They would practice for hours, its true but also the daily life then was more of a physical one, with lots of walking, and heavy lifting being the norm (saddles, armor, swords, etc.). They wouldn't have "exercised" or "lifted weights" as such, the exercise would be in the day to day activities.

Matt Furey markets exercise programs for body weight exercises. That might be the sort of thing you're looking for.

They were like zero % body fat, worked and fought all day!!

The true gladiators of today are, MMA fighters!! Try going to a MMA gym and training in like BJJ and Mauyi Thai!!

Their are plenty of instructional videos and books on Hand2hand combat, and MMA....if you cant go to a gym.

well one reason is that they didnt have TV and computers and all this junk food to make them fat in the first place

also becuase of no technology, they were very much outdoors most of their healthy lives. they would train to fight with swords and probably helped make houses.. if you want to look like them you should lift weights and tone?
