Swelling is not a fracture. A fracture is a broken bone. You do not state that you have had any injury. This sounds like and infection and probably needs antibiotics to clear it up. Go to a doctor and get it checked before it spreads and you end up in the hospital.

When a doctor evaluates your ankle, the main task is to determine if you have fractured a bone or if the joint has been damaged sufficiently to have become unstable. Joint instability often suggests multiple fractures, a fracture with a ligament injury, or sometimes ligament injury alone so if i was you i would get the doc to take a look and while time bieng prop you foot up on pillow and put some ice on it for 20 mins and rest good luck get a doc to look straight away

See a podiatrist and have x rays to determine if it is fractured. I broke my foot once and didn't know for about 3 weeks cause I went to urgent care and got misdiagnosed.

Put it up and rest it, put ice on it too. Take Ibuprophen for the swelling. Wrap it with an ace bandage for the support, it helps. There is no way to tell if its fractured unless you get an xray.

See a good podiatrist at once and get it x-rayed to be certain that you do not have a fracture.

You want to contact your doctor without delay and get this attended to before it gets worse. The operative expression here is "without delay". If necessary, go to the nearest emergency room.
