Do you think that they way you treat others is drawing them to Christ or pushing them away? Do you talk to people in a way that will cause them to turn from Christ?
Sometimes I am amazed to find out some people are fellow Christians-aren't we supposed to let his light shine from within us, rather than hide it under a blanket or mean speech, accusatory words, judgmental behavior, and harshness? Sometimes I meet people who claim to be fellow Christians who are the least Christ-like people you could ever meet.
If you are one of these people who claims to be a Christian, yet treats people harshly and with quick words, do you care that if they turn away from God their blood is on your hands?
Just wondering............

Just the thought that replacing a kind word where you would have put something curt or rude and draw someone TO Christ should be enough to cause some of those "christians" a lifetime of shame, don't you think?
Going on.....why not THINK first, then speak. Like James said "Be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to get angry"....so many Christians want to blurt out the first conclusion they come to and pass a harsh judgment, and I think in their attempts to seem tough, they really don't get what HARM they do to the name of Christianity.

EXACTLY!!! I mean look at the history of Christianity!!! Other religions judge it off the act of Christians!!! And since in the past, Christians were killing people with other faiths and kicking them off lands when they should of been more loving and trying to draw them closer without threatening them of damnation if they don't. To those fellow Christians who are reading this, you should try to see people with other faiths as equals (if you don't already), and care for them.

I mean Christianity is getting 'not-a-good' reputation right now. Christians are becoming weaker and more ignorant. (like, "Jesus died for our sins, so let me do this bad thing and then just ask for forgiveness and I'm good"). Christians are involved with politics (which is NOT Christ-like, as the people with political power were the ones who crucified him) and murders (which Jesus said that we AREN"T SUPPOSED TO MURDER!! He even said if you feel hatred for a person, you're doing a no-no)

And another thing is, my really close friend, (he's a non-Christian) knows more about our faith than many Christians! I mean many Christians just need to know that Jesus forgives sin, and they think they're set so they don't really try to seek for more information to strengthen their faith, feel the gift of joy and happiness that God gave us. Its so irritating to see people of my faith to act corrupt, pushing other people away. I have to admit that I sometimes act unchristian, especially in my past. I mean if people actually start dedicating themselves to the Holy Bible and understanding it (especially the New Testament), and act on their beliefs, then people would definitely think of our Messiah in a much better light.

If treat others the way ... is the only thing Jesus said you might have a point, but it isn't. It was Jesus' words that led an untold amount of unbelievers to be burnt at the stake:

John 15:6, KJV reads: If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.

As an Ex-Christian now Atheist, I tell you that the actions of Christians has nothing to do with the reasons why I don't believe there is a god. It's all a matter of evidence, or lack thereof.

I try to show God to others by living the way I should. I am not perfect. I try to be careful on the words I use that it is not offensive to anyone. I would not want to turn anyone away from God by the words I say. I do not judge anyone or condemn them. God is the only judge. If someone ask a question I try to answer it the best way I can. There are some people on here that have upset me and instead of insulting them back I just pray for them. I put it in God's hands. All we can do is show them the way, it is up to them what they do with that information.

there are as many levels of Christians walking the christian walk as there are personalities. First all are human and sin is a everyday way of life, and you try to overcome, stop, learn to be less judgmental, not so quick to condemn, the list goes on and on. I like to use the analogy, if an idiot gets saved, hes a saved idiot. It does not necessarily effect your IQ at all. Some are slower to give up their judgmental ways and being so quick to criticize than others might. The only place you will find hypocrites in America is in religion, but at least they are trying, they might be doing a poor job at being a good christian, and hopefully someday they will eventually get it.

The best way to keep a "non" believer a "non" believer is to say either of these two things to them:

#1} I will pray for you?

#2} If you don't believe in God/Jesus you will go to Hell?

Nothing turns off a person quicker then the above sentences that get used so frequently by Christians to non believers?

Unfortunately, I think being "Christian", has become a kind of catch-all for many people that really have no kind of spiritual direction. Many people that I have personally spoken to, although professing to be Christian, really have very little knowledge about Jesus, or any part of the bible for that matter. Most of those simply adopted the demonination of their parents without ever giving it any real thought, or application in thier lives. That can seriously give Christianity a negative image. The same can be said for regular church-goers, who completely ingore their professed faith as soon as they walk out the church doors. Just think of how many times you've been cut off in traffic by the minivan traveling near the speed of sound with a christian radio station bumper sticker on it's back window.

Acts 3:5 speaks of those people "having a form of godly devotion but proving false to its power". I work in sales (not traditionaly the most honest of professions, I know), and have worked with many people like the ones you mention. I remind myself that Jesus himself came across people like that. Luke 6 is full of encouragement on this matter.

Also Matthew 7:15-21 "Be on the watch for the false prophets that come to you in sheep's covering, but inside they are ravenous wolves. By their fruits you will recognize them. Never do people gather grapes from thorns or figs from thistles, do they? Likewise every good tree produces fine fruit, but every rotten tree produces worthless fruit... Really, then, by their fruits you will recognize those men.

Not everyone saying to me 'Lord, Lord' will enter into the kingdom of the heavens, but the one doing the will of my father who is in the heavens will."

I think the reason some Christians lose it...is because we are still in our flesh and still get angry. No Christian nor anyone is perfect. Sometimes Christians no matter how good they are or nice..will get angry and will say things they shouldnt.

All we can do is apologize humbly and go on. But as long as we are IMPERFECT, we will NOT always say the right things.

I totally agree w/ you. I 'm a Christian and some of my "fellow Christians" certainly don't act like it. and I totally understand what ur saying. Yes, we're suposed to be kind, but we're not perfect either, we all mess up. I call people who do this "phony Christians" They usually do this action b/c their parents drag them to church, or they change at school or work to be "cool" and fit in. I'm sorry if u have experienced it. It is a shame.

Matthew 28:19
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

As we are christians (Christ Followers) it is our job to tell everyone "The Good News" and be a good example so people could see christ living in us.
