If you fail it at reception you will not be allowed to go to basic training. You go to a platoon and do physical fitness training for 30 days or until you pass a PT test. If you don't pass it in 30 days I think you get the boot but not 100% sure.
If you are already in basic you usually move on but if you don't pass the final one you get recycled up to 2 times I think and they you will get the boot.
When you are at your unit you have up to 30 days to pass. If you do not pass the first time you get flagged for no favorable actions and can only remove the flag once you pass the PT test.

Yes, you will continue to go to Victory Forge. You will just not pass Basic, which is a bad thing.

May I make a suggestion? Ask your Drill Sergeant to work with you on the events that you are having issues with. The Army APFT is not hard. I am a 40 year old officer, and I've never made below a 210 - even when the new standards came out.

I'm assuming that you are just starting out in the Army... If you fail your PT Test (APFT), you normally will have the opportunity to re-take it in 30 days.

This is if you are through Basic/AIT & stationed somewhere... If you failed prior to Basic/during Basic/AIT - I'm not quite sure...

Good Luck!

Not real sure about today but in 1971 you didn't even take the AFPT until the 6th week of basic. And we had zero failures because for 6 weeks you were being prepared for it.

If I remember right there was one failure in another platoon and he was dogged to death for 2 weeks and passed it the day before graduation.
