Letters because it means you took the time to sit down and write. And that way they can always have it when they need it

Both. If possible, send emails fairly frequently even though some units won't get them..Send a letter with more details at least twice a month. Also, send a "care" package about once a month, or even more frequently, if you can. Those people are serving our country and putting their lives on the line. This is a newer kind of war where security isn't what it used to be, so some packages, some mail, and some emails even will probably not get through. These people prefer contact of any kind, like to be kept up to date on local events, and face some rough times, so "care" packages are definitely appreciated, especially when they get through--and don't forget that some of the unit might not get anything, so toss in a little extra for sharing.

I prefer mail as in letters or packages. I think it has more meaning behind it. The letters actual have a smell of home to them which is nice.

Either is great. E-mail is good for up to date stuff, but letters I think are more personnel. My wife and kids do both when I'm overseas.

okie dokie... my husband is in Iraq and he loves both.... the emails provide him with a piece of home every day and knowing that everything is ok here all the time.... the letters are more personal.... i usually send him a letter every other day and between 3 to 4 emails a day... not to mention the times that we are on messanger.... the letters he can take with him on over night missions and read and the emails never get to "used" to read....
so my suggestion to you is to do a combination of both....

Honestly?? It doesn't matter!! I'm deployed to Kuwait right now, and just hearing from back home, whatever the source, is awesome!! Actually, to be honest with you, a care package is the best, but just hearing from loved ones rocks!!

Both. You can't always have access to email so getting actual letters from the people you care about are great.
With emails you can't always be as personal as you want to be because they can be read for security reasons.

Hmmm. Some MOS's don't have the luxury of sitting around a computer reading and sending emails.
A letter is more personal.

Letters, because they can hold them in their hand.
I am ex military and I would much prefer letters.
Letters can be delivered anywhere no internet required.
