The Scriptures clearly teach that one must be baptized to enter heaven.
Several people have given the example of the thief on the cross as one who did not need baptism but this understanding is not correct. There are actually three ways to be baptized. The thief on the cross was baptized by desire and thus was accepted in paradise. There is the baptism of blood where one dies for or because of their faith. This would include the martyrs and even those children who were murdered by Herod after Jesus' birth. And lastly, there is the baptism in water. Baptism is definitely not a symbolic act but a commandment of our Lord.

Nope. The bible is very clear. You have to repent, be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, and receive the gift of the Holy Ghost
See Acts 2:38
See Also Mark 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved

No. In reference to the poster above, that was before Jesus died, therefore, baptism was not required, only after Jesus died, was baptism required since you must be cleansed by the blood. If Jesus is still alive you cannot be cleansed by His blood.
Christian water baptism is an ordinance instituted by Jesus Christ. If it is not important in the plan of God, why did Jesus command it in Matthew 28:19? And why did Peter follow up by saying, "Be baptized every one of you," and by commanding the Gentiles to be baptized (Acts 2:38; 10:48)? We must remember two points about the importance of water baptism. First, whatever Christ definitely established and ordained cannot be unimportant, whether we understand its significance or not. Second, Christ and the apostles showed the importance of this ordinance by observing it. Jesus walked many miles to be baptized, though He was without sin, saying, "For thus it becometh us to fulfill all righteousness" (See Matthew 3:13-16.)
It is true that water itself does not contain any saving virtue, but God has chosen to include it in His plan of salvation. Peter explained, "Baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ" (I Peter 3:21). According to Luke 7:30, "the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the counsel of God against themselves, being not baptized."
John 3:5, "Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God."
Acts 2:38, "Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."
Acts 22:16, "And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord."
1 Pet. 3:21, "The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ."

In short no...But the Church teaches differant types of baptisms. Baptism of desire, baptism of blood and baptism of water.
Baptism of desire is defined this way in the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
par 1260
"Since Christ died for all, and since all men are in fact called to one and the same destiny, which is divine, we must hold that the Holy Spirit offers to all the possibility of being made partakers, in a way known to God, of the Paschal mystery." Every man who is ignorant of the Gospel of Christ and of his Church, but seeks the truth and does the will of God in accordance with his understanding of it, can be saved. It may be supposed that such persons would have DESIRED BAPTISM explicitly if they had known its necessity.
-Like the thief on the cross would have desired baptism if he had known its necessity -
Baptism of Blood is dying for Christ and His Gospel...like the early martyrs during the times of persecution which happens even to this day.
So, you see, the Church affirms that you can only be saved through baptism...either through baptism of water (which would be the normative way), baptism of desire or baptism of blood.
God Bless

Yes, the better example is the thief who repented and died at the cross at the side of Jesus. Jesus promised to him that he and Jesus would be togheter in paradise.
However, if you repent and accept Jesus, and God allows you to continue living on Earth, He expects you to start obeying His word. That includes, among other things, getting baptized as a public testimony of your faith in Jesus.
God will judge if:
* a person did not had enough time or opportunity to be baptized, or
* did the person choosed to not obey His word regarding baptism.

Most certainly you can. Water baptism in and of itself, does not save. It is an outward symbol of an inward change. Only Jesus saves. If you repent of your sins, ask God for forgiveness, and put your faith in Christ, that His death on the cross was sufficient to pay the penalty your sins demanded, then God is faithful to forgive your sins and save you. We are given our entire lives to do this, however long that may be. Some folks come to repentance on their deathbed.
Witness the thief at the cross who was crucified beside Christ and yet made a profession of faith. That thief recognized Jesus Christ as His Lord and Savior. He was not baptized by water, but by the spirit. And Jesus assured the man of his salvation.

Yes of course you can. No where in the Bible does it say you have to be baptized to go to Heaven. It says to be saved. Not saved and baptized to go to Heaven. Now, you can be baptized because that's what Jesus did and it's a picture of how He died on the cross and rose again.
So, yes, you can still go to Heaven.
