I can't speak for all people, only myself.
The simplest things that we have are designed; the button holding your Levis together, two sticks used to eat sushi, even a piece of rope are designed.
And we take great pride in our achievement.
Yet, while we marvel at the complexity of a laptop computer, we pale at the thought that the organic computer that designed it is also, itself, the product of intelligent design.
Years ago, the thought was bandied around that if an infinite number of monkeys typed for an infinite amount of time, they would eventually produce all the great works of literature.
I don't know of any works of literature produced that way yet.
Mankind has striven for years trying to demonstrate the accidental or arbitrary creation of something and has not succeeded even by design.
I do not know what the 'strongest possible evidence' that you have is, but what is observable and demonstrable is that everything man made has a designer.
We build self-sustaining bio-spheres by design.
We live in a massive self-sustaining environment and yet you seem to claim that it is not by design.
Please, next question, cite your 'strongest possible evidence' to support your "belief".

This is a very interesting question, you see, I fulfil half of your requirements, I am very into looking at the scientific facts.
BUT.
I agree with you.
ALOT (i.e. MOST) of the people who VERY FERVENTLY believe ANYTHING usualy do not *like* the science that proves their point.
They are not willing to, say, give up social idealogy to show their point to be true.
I always here of the creationist argument about dino bones "God put them there, to tempt us." This is by far the stupidest argument EVER.
An answer like that gives creationists a bad name.
Some creationists, who do look at the science, won't ever affiliate themselves with people who say such nonsence.
Many evolutionists, or scientists who advocate - or push - evolution, don't pay attention to the facts either.
Or brush important arguments under the rug.
I think this is because, they spend more time being excited about their cause, than they do researching it, or that their motives are more political or social than scientific.
It is those who pay more attention to the science, that get anywhere in these fields.
I agree, it is silly to claim creation and say dino bones are here to "tempt us" calling yourself educated and spitting that out is just stupid. Calling yourself educated and spitting out some things I have heard by the evolution pushers, is stupid also.
We should focus more on the science.

No one can show how life started on this planet. No one has ever seen the elements of DNA come together naturally in a sterile environment. In fact, it has been proven otherwise. How then does life thrive on Earth? The answer is powerfully obvious.
edit:
Thumbs down? Really??? Have you heard of Louis Pasture? Or perhaps you Can demonstrate how life began from inanimate material. That would make headlines.

good question.
I happen to think there is a compromise but my fellow Christians do not like to think it is possible.
I think God did make the world in 7 days, His days are a lot longer then our days. Should equal about 5 billion of our years.
Also, I think God gave us intelligence enough to figure out the building blocks of life (DNA, etc) and how evolution happened. After all, since He made us in His image, then it follows we are smart enough to figure SOME things out regardless of what some might refuse to believe as they prefer to keep their heads in the sand.
Just my 2 cents.
