I've heard simple things such as buring the ashes into the ground or letting them into the wind. But does anyone know of anymore creative ways?

To G:
You've replied the same answer to other questions. For one, I do not believe in God, so your spamming isn't very effective here.

I am not intending to make light of your question, but the ashes should be scattered around the place the deceased enjoyed the most.

I heard about a lady that wanted to be cremated and asked that her ashes be scattered around the Wal-Mart parking lot.
When she was asked why, Wal-Mart? She answered, "So that my daughters would come to visit at least twice a week."

G, I don't think God is going to tell her anything. As for me, I have a friend whose wife passed away a couple of years ago. He has given small bottles of her ashes to people traveling around the world. I took a bottle to a volcano in Ecuador and spread it there. He took some to Paris, where they had some wonderful memories. Someone else took some to China. I lost track after that. I loved this idea!

I bought a small pendant at the funeral home and they put some of my dad's ashes in it. When ever I wear it I feel like he is close to me. The rest of his ashes I scattered in the soil of a tree we planted for him.

There is one company that turns the ashes in to a diamond which you could use as a jewelery.( http://www.lifegem.com/ ) If that sounds like something you wouldn't want to do, there's another company that takes the ashes and releases them in the space ( www.memorialspaceflights.com ). I personally want to have my ashes released in my favorite place in the world which is here: http://www.persianscholarship.org/damavand.jpg ... My great grandmother asked her ashes to be released in the sea. I hope you find something nice.

you know what i would like done with my ashes?

find a nice place for a tree, dig a hole, put my ashes in, plant a tree on top. the roots will dig in through my ashes and (hopefully) theyll assist in the growth of the tree.

What did they like to do while they were alive? If they fished then let them sleep with the fishes. Sorry I just finished watching the Godfather.
