I just removed a virus from my computer with Spybot Search & Destroy and every time I open a program, I get this message. http://i13.tinypic.com/6l99zd2.jpg

Except instead of it saying "iTunes.exe", it says the program name followed by .exe

I already restarted it since the virus was removed and I need a little help of how I can get rid of this message opening everytime I open a program. I just click on "Ok" and it goes away, but this shouldn't be popping up every time. Thanks in advance.

Spybot may have deleted the virus file, but the virus put a pointer to itself somewhere first. This is one of the ways viruses try to re-run themselves. Since it coughs up an error, that's a good sign, at least windows is not finding (or running) the virus. You just need to find where the pointer is to stop windows from looking for it anymore. Since you say it does this with any program, I would suspect a run= command. From the start button, hit Run. Type in "sysedit". Check the Win.ini and System.ini files for any run= or load= entries. If wowfx.dll is in there get rid of it. If you don't find it there, it's prolly buried in the registry somewhere, use the search function. Make a note (pencil and paper) of any reg keys you find wowfx in. If you delete them and the system stops working you will prolly need to put them back, but use rundll32.exe instead of wowfx.dll. rundll32.exe is the standard windows issued program launcher that viruses love to hyjack because it's used so much. Good luck!

Does Spybot remove viruses?

i assume you already tried to delete the file wowfx.dll

next step is to type regedit in a console and search for wowfx. delete each entry you find in the registry.

also look in task manager if there are programs that reregister your wowfx.dll
