When you are doing something wrong...even if you have not been told it is wrong by parents or others....you get this feeling that it IS WRONG...is that the Holy Spirit telling you you are wrong or just your conscience and if so what is conscience?

Andy, you have an interesting hypothesis but the Holy Spirit does convict people of what they are doing wrong........ as well as being an encourager to do things the right way..to follow the right path. The Holy Spirit can open or close doors for you!
Best wishes, Mike.

i think that if you believe in the Holy Spirit - then it's the Holy Spirit telling you what's wrong or right. i also believe that even people who don't believe in the Holy Spirit are able to know right from wrong because God has placed that kind of knowledge in all of us. you can call that our conscience.

That is your conscience, you can thank Adam for that after he ate the apple from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. The Holy Spirit will only convict a believer of righteousness, that is to say, if you do wrong He will remind you that Jesus died for your sins 2007 years ago and you are now forgiven, He will not start telling you how bad you are and make you feel guilty that is from the evil one. The Holy Spirit is a comforter and an encourager.

Conscience is the spirit of man. The Holy Spirit convicts us of all sin and teaches us all things that pertain to Christ. A born again Christian will hear this conscience regularly and we should walk in this Spirit and listen for the conscience to guide us which is the Holy Spirit.

If you reject the Lord for too long of a time, God can turn you over to a depraved mind and therefore the conscience is seared with a hot iron.

Maybe your conscience is the Holy Spirit. I Kings 19:12 speaks of a still small voice. I think that calling the voice of the Holy Spirit a conscience is a way for those who do not believe that God speaks to us to explain the voice.

The Holy Spirit is what causes that sick feeling you get when you do something wrong. The Holy Spirit is also that feeling you get when you do something good for someone.

I believe our conscience is the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Like you said, where else would it come from? :) Evolution would always produce something that is into self gratification and survival of the fittest.

It's the fact that your brain knows that you are breaking morals put in place as your parents brought you up. That's your conscience not some imaginary holy spirit.

Its your conscience. People can tell pretty often what right and wrong is, even though lots of people ignore their instincts.
