If you love the red couch paint 3 walls in a neutral taupe with a red accent wall. Paint the ceiling taupe that is 2 or 3 shades lighter than the walls. Paint your trim crisp white. Bring in blacks, golds, soft greens with your accessories.

I'd go red to match the sofa or a red/gray pattern to tie the sofa and carpet together.

The drapes should be a sort of crimson color to match the couch but darken up the room a little

Either red/gold print, or ivory/gold. I think red/gray would be a bit dark.
Whichever colors you like the best, and want to emphasize.

Because of the walls and couch colours, I'd go with a colour that's Autumn-y. Different shades of reds and gold would be nice.

I'd go for a print that has a little bit of everything. Mostly neutral with gold and red accents, or a nice balance of the three. Like this:

something reddy/auburny with a nice pattern - not block colour, you need something to add texture to the room what with your walls and sofa being block colour
