I'm just trying to find beautiful nature spots for relaxation with the family and kids, other than the crowded manmade and stocked lakes such as big bear lake and others, anywhere for peaceful seclusions please.

Dbaby, any idea why those places (like Big Bear) are so crowded? It's because there aren't a lot of lakes and streams around. And there aren't many lakes and streams because we live in a desert. If you want lots of lakes and streams, you'll have to go to the Sierras, Western Oregon, or Washington.

With that said, you can check out the San Gabriel River by taking the 210 out of Azusa, up the hill, until it turns into San Gabriel Canyon Road. There are many places to stop and hike along the river. Be sure to notify the rangers where you plan to hike because the area is deceptively unforgiving.

Another nice place is the Santa Ana River between Forest Home and Big Bear. Take Highway 38 out of Forest Home. Just past Anelus Oaks, you turn left on Glass Road, down into the canyon. At 7 Oaks road, turn right. You will see the Santa Ana River to your right. There are many places to explore. Watch out for nettle, as it proliferates here.

Have fun!

Check out theNation Park service web page. It is hard to find streams in So Cal this year because it has been so dry. You might be able to have better luck as the wet season carries on.
