I'm very shy and introverted, but a friend of mine said I have quiet confidence. I don't FEEL confident, so does that mean I still have quiet confidence? Is it possible that I have it and not know it? How can you tell if someone has quiet confidence?

Unfortunately a great and common misconception exists that confidence is a feeling. A good, confident feeling may in fact accompany confidence but this is not always the case. Confidence is an acceptance of the truth, often in spite of a good feeling. It is possessed by both introverts and extroverts. It is an acceptance of truth often in the face of adversity. You may in fact possess great confidence without the feeling of confidence.
Do you know who you are? Do you accept the positive attributes that you posses, and the positive contributions that you have to offer in various social settings, even when you don't feel it, and even when circumstances or people suggest otherwise? If so then you posses confidence.

Quiet confidence means that a person doesn't have to be outgoing or outspoken to have self confidence. It's possible that you are of this type, but from what little you described it does not sound very likely. Confidence is an emotion, and so lack of confidence is also an emotion. If you don't feel confident, then you're not. If you do, then you are.

Well, you are quiet...and you can work on your confidence by being yourself and learning to accept your self in all situations!

Well it sounds as if there are times when you feel confident, but you don't recognize them. Start observing yourself, when you are inside yourself, and when you assert yourself, because obviously you do, or else your friend wouldn't be able to recognize your quiet confidence.

the mask we wear in public is often very different from who we really are. That you appear confident, doesn't mean you actually are, it just means you are a good actress.
