I wouldn't say that they're not true fans just because they're unhappy about certain things in the sport.
There are several different things that fans are unhappy about. A few of the more popular ones are:
The Chase format
The Car of Tomorrow
Top 35 in owners points
Horrendus race coverage by the networks
Toyota
Cup drivers racing in the Busch/Nationwide series
The list goes on....and seems to get longer each year.

There are a couple of forces at work here:
1) People care about their sport. NASCAR is relatively young and has changed a lot- almost perpetually and sometimes too much, too quickly. Too much authority in the hands of one person can be a problem. On the other hand, trust me, MLB's problems are far worse.
2) It is the nature of people to *****. A lot of carping is a fact of life with the First Amendment. Oh well- I'd rather listen to bitchy fans than watch them be shot for having an opinion. All in all, we still love racing.

oh here we go with the "true fans" bullshyt from the "notatruefan" haters club. Im honestly guessing that those who are always judging who is a "true fan" or not are very insecure about either how big a fan THEY are or something much more than that. Anyway sorry for the rant. We are down on it because of the drastic changes and so many of them at once and lots of us shell out a LOT o cash for this series and some people drop a lot on truck and Busch series too. The guy above me CGK gave a few points and on top of that (there are plenty more) the racing this season has been really boring except about the first handfull of races or so.

Chase format
Lucky Dog
Top 35 in owners points locked in
Trading owners points
Past Champions Provisional
C.O.T.
No more "rubbing is racing"
The Busch series has been littered with Cup drivers running full time.
Rules not being constant.
And yes I remember the Biffle win. I was just thinking about it earlier today, weird.
If you ever watched a race before....let's say 1994 then you would understand.
For me I watched whenever I could from 1979. Then I never missed a race from 87-2002. From mid-season 02 to 05 watched most of the races. 06 about 10 races, 07 Daytona 500, tried to watch others (mainly short tracks) but there are just too many cautions for debris and the coverage sucks.
And one of the things that really bother me is these new fans thinking they know everything about the sport.

Well, let me see...
The Chase Blows.
Bring back the old points system.
The Cars.
There's NOTING left stock about these cars. They don't even look like their stock counterparts any longer. It's gotten to the point with the COT you can hardly tell the brands apart any longer.
Owner's points, provisionals, guaranteed starting spots.
Utter Bulls**t! NASCAR needs to kill off all position guarantees and go with a 3 lap qualifying average. You go fast, or you go home. No if's and's or but's.
Stop emasculating the drivers.
A guy goes tumbling down the racetrack at 200mph, flips 17 times, and as soon as he gets out, some hair sprayed buffoon sticks a mic in his face, and NASCAR gets all pissy because he says a few naughty words??? That's just nuts. These are adult men in intense situations, to expect them to dump all that adrenaline and think about what they're saying so soon after a near death experience is unfair and crazy.
Political Correctness.
It's running rampant all over, but in NASCAR it's just gotten outta control. It's gotten to the point that there's no sense in interviewing any of the drivers any longer. Between the personality coaches, the speech writers, the make up artists and so on, I'm beginning to wonder, are they drivers, or politicians? They never directly answer ANY questions any longer. All you get is the same regurgitated " Well, the (insert sponsor)(insert car make) was running great, we just ran into a little trouble on the track"...etc, etc, etc. And any time you get someone with the stones to actually say what's on his mind (usually Tony Stewart) they fine him for not towing the company line.
Ah, screw it, I think I'm going to spend more time watching sprint cars this year anyway. Dirt racing is more fun to watch anyway.

There are 4 things that I dislike about the current nascar system, they are:
owner points get rid of them
the COT (new car) looks too much like a box
the Chase System go back to the old system
past champions provisionals
don't allow it in back to back races

About 10 years ago I loved racing and couldnt get enough of it. Somewhere along the way I watched Nascar just grow too big , too quick. Closing the little tracks was a huge disappointment, some of your best races were at the smaller tracks. It just feels like less of a competion and more of a carefully orchestrated event every year now. You used to see the drivers being intereviewed after the races and you could sense and feel their excitement and now it just feel so rehearsed. Its all become all about the almighty dollar. I would enjoy going to a dirt track with some local unknowns now more than a seat at the best track. For the people who still love the race, I understand that too. I am glad you can still have all the excitement and feeling about it all, I just think mine is gone.

One name, several problems: Penske Racing... Look at that points transfer BS! Look, at my local track, it doesn't matter who starts the race or what team owns what car. Points are points. Now you have a driver with a less than mediocre NASCAR record guaranteed a starting spot in the first 5 races?!?!?! For what?!?!?! To make a sponsor happy???? How happy will that sponsor be when their car is in the hauler on it's way back to Charlotte with a DNF for the first 5 races? Yeah they're getting their moneys worth with a 35th place finish after a wreck.

Wow theres plenty to envision here, so i'm gonna attempt and not repeat what somebody else has suggested. this is my take: confident and No, so a approaches as my confident, on those boards, we are able to be, it appears like all human beings desires to be the smarter guy or the super contibuter. I see a super sort of sturdy solutions get thumbs down and it in simple terms blows me away. you are able to tell by employing examining persons anwsers on who relatively is being un-bias of their solutions, those are the folk that I evaluate real followers. A fan, wither or no longer its against their motive force or no longer, we will answer a query as un-bias as conceivable. This in simple terms my opinion. so a approaches as my no, certainty continues to be, whilst your at a music, all of the stupid stuff that gets suggested this is completly out the window, through fact no one cares how long somebody has been watching a pastime, we are there to appreciate what all of us appreciate. Thats good perplexing racing. As a Jr/Harvick fan, i've got set with the different drivers followers, we provide one yet another crap, snort, drink beer and luxuriate in the racing. I even have never one time gotten right into a controversy with absolutely everyone at a music or off those public boards, through fact as quickly as we are off of here, we are actual people who cant cover in the back of a demonstrate call. (by employing the way, my call is Darrell) If a man or woman chooses to bounce from motive force to motive force, i actual dont care, possibly now and lower back it takes that for somebody to locate a motive force this is a robust in superb condition for them as a fan. i could in simple terms hate to have their expenses for hats, collectibles, stickers etc. you in addition to would dont would desire to attend out prevailing slumps. however the bashing is by employing a approaches no longer through fact of Kyle and Logano, I remember some band wagon leaping whilst Jeff Gordon (in simple terms to call one motive force) first hit the scene and all of the bashing that adult men leaping over to him have been getting. IMO, it is in simple terms extra customary (a minimum of here in this board) through fact they're are plenty extra persons one this board then what there develop into this time final 300 and sixty 5 days. the two way, i think of it is a robust question, I attempt to no longer come accross as a snob, yet how persons interpet different persons comments is often up in the air.
