Public School Teaches How To Enter U.S. Illegally
Wed, 12/19/2007 - 11:57 — Judicial Watch Blog
A public high school in Ohio is forcing students to assume a Latino identity then teaching them how to enter the United States illegally and how to forge documents in order to live in the town as an illegal alien.

The Spanish class at the taxpayer-funded school (Olentangy Liberty High) in the upscale Columbus suburb of Powell features a role-playing project in which students must assume a Latino identity, create an imaginary life in a foreign country and develop a plan to immigrate to the U.S.

The students are initially instructed to attempt entering the country legally by filling out paperwork from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. But the teacher who runs the class, Erica Vieyra, stamps the word “denied” on every imaginary application and instructs students to devise a plan to cross the border illegally.

I think it was really bad judgment on her part. You can't deport people on the grounds of stupidity. You can fire them. I highly doubt though that her goal was to teach American citizens how to break the law and come to America illegally. She was most likely just trying to give them another persons view of a very publicized political situation.

I want to answer your question, but see more involvement than just the teacher. Deporting the teacher is not the answer to the problem, how many other people are standing by knowing what is taking place and doing nothing. If the teacher was teaching everything about sex, you would have an outcry of parents and the school board, the question now is why hasn't that happen with this subject..
If immigrations weren't such a problem with illegals, that might be something that a teacher could let the students become involve only to the point of reasons illegals are discouraged from entering the US..
You want to have the teacher deported, start terminating all the people involved with the program also.

Hello? Where are the parents of these students? Why aren't they raising a stink??? It's not the entering the country illegally thing that's bothering me here, its the teaching that it's ok to steal someone's identity to do something illegal. What is she going to teach next? Oh, let me show you how to open up credit cards in someone else's name and not get caught?
I think that teacher needs to be fired and have her teaching certificate revoked.

I gues this is the same as the fellow who taught his class about the holocaust - split them into 2 groups and then one lot treated the other lot like crap - because thats what hitler did. This went on for a whole month. I think one or two kids committed suicide over it because of the way they were being treated.

The teacher should be banned from teaching, but if she is a legal emigrant, she should not be deported.

she should be fired. where in the school circular does it say to teach that to students? Please report it to your PTA and go straight to the principal, blow thw whistle on her .I think you already have good luck. I guess you'll be getting a new teacher....... If that was a black teaching that about slaves she would of been on the news. so if there are any latino leaders in ohio . What are you waiting for?????????

Shouldn't the school be at fault, too? I'm sure the teacher can't just go around creating projects like this without the principal's blessing. And I don't think the principal would even go with it unless the school board and superintendent were on board as well.

fired, not deported. Counseling students that violating the law is ok if they don't get what they want is clearly contrary to anything a school should be teaching.

Before everybody flies off the handle, remember that if you teach people how to just THINK like illegal aliens, you may be teaching future border patrol officers who will be able to do their job better due to knowing how the illegal alien mind works.

Kind of like murder detectives trying to THINK like a murderer in order to catch them.

Problem solving taken to insane degrees.....I agree....deport them. Instead of breaking the law....or finding a way around the law....they should be teaching the legal ways to change the laws.....within legal means.

They really don't need anyone to teach them. They already know . If they don't someone in the family does. They probably taught the teacher.
